We were considering whether we should visit Cairns or leave it out, and we ended up spending 8days there and spending far too much money.
But the positive side was we done some amazing things. We are now certified divers: It was a 4 day course and stayed on the boat 1 night out on top of the Great Barrier Reef. It was a super fun experience and after a couple of panic attacks i managed to get a grip of myself and enjoyed the world beneath the ocean's surface. Unfortunately Dave spent the whole time on the boat sea sick and hugging the side of the boat! So was extra keen to be in the water and not on it
From here we visited the 'Cape Tribulation', the only place in the world where 2 world heritage areas meet.... the daintree rainforrest and the Great Barrier Reef. It sounds pretty cool but to be honest it was a beautiful rainforrest but as it rains EVERDAY in Tropical North Queensland, the views weren't too spectacular.
We then began our decent south and reached Tully, the great and mighty Tully. Where were went water rafting. I think it was one of the best things ive ever done!!! I had so much fun and made a big fuss about what a scaredy cat i was! The guide was cool, and we managed to get onto the 'extreme team' which meant we only had 6 on our raft, only 2 rafts and we went first so no hanging around. We jumped off a cliff, slid through a natural water shoot and got flipped over heaps of times. The good part was we didnt fall out on any of the rapids!!!
So we are now continuing down to whitsundays.
