Packed up and left Islares on Saturday morning, still raining. On our way to Astauris. we visited the cave paintings of Altamira, in Santillana del mar.
went in the museo de altamira. although you cant go into the actual cave because of the damage done by people breathing. They have built an exact replic of the entrance to the cave. The cave paintings are on the ceiling and looked impressive. It was just like in Jean Auels books, clan of the cave bear. cost was 3 euros each.
We arrived at John and Janets a day early and they agreed to take us in, no problem. We were greeted by the most fantastic 'house' for us to stop in.
Since we have been here we have been felling trees for the winter log store. Clearing a field of brambles. Where Dawn had a conversation with a farmer, he spoke spanish and Dawn spoke english, which didnt last very long and then he left. We have filled the car with chopped up logs, went up the hill, and the boot opened and they went rolling back down the hill.
Managed to dry and air the tents, and made a few repairs.
Dave did some extreme lawnmowing using a flymo on a rope. He was throughly knackered after. I raked over the mole holes and thought I saw a black plastic handle, hooked it up on the rake and it was half a snake.....lol. Have been to the local coop and village and we are going into the main town on Friday. We have been able to pick lemons of the trees to make a lemon tart.
