Day 25 - Our run of good weather continues. We took a short cab ride to Heidelberg station and had a relaxing 5 hour ride into Berlin, with only a couple stops on the way. This trip (on a train they call the "ICE" Inter City Express (I think)) was not as quick as the Paris to Heidelberg TGV. We hit a top speed of only 200kph and cruised around 140kph. Even at the slower speeds, it was difficult to get photos. We arrived in Berlin around 2.15pm. This station is a city in itself, with 2 levels of platforms (1 for intercity and the other for suburban trains) plus multi levels of shopping. With a little help from the locals with directions, we managed to find our way to the Adina apartments, our home for the next 2 days. This place has been our best level of accommodation so far. The receptionist supplied us with maps on city sights and transport and a host of information on what's best to see & do for our short stay here. With a bag of laundry we set off down town to the local Laundromat and a bit of sightseeing while we waited for the washing. As the apartment is well equipped, we bought some essential supplies (some nibblies, 1 bottle of Suav blanc and a 6 pack of Becks). With them chilling in the fridge, it was off to find dinner. We didn't go far before we found a great Italian restaurant, had a great meal and back home for a nightcap (or 2).
