So Greyhound up to San Fran was pretty uneventful, did meet a cool guy from Oakland, who later I found out to be a gang member in that area! Scary hey! He was quite open about it though, with his brother’s tattoos to signify where his allegiances lie. Interesting trip! I got into San Fran and again it all flowed back to me. I was in san Fran to meet up with a couple I had met in Fiji, and travel up to Seattle with them! That’s a 1500 mile journey up the back of northern California, all of Oregon and most of Washington State. Was going to be awesome! Staying at the Hostelling International in Fisherman’s Wharf, and knew exactly how to get there. You wouldn’t believe I was only 18 the last time I was in San Fran! Anyhow the location is gorgeous, you can see Alcatraz (which I did before) and the Golden Gate Bridge from the hostel and it is literally minutes walk from Pier 29 and the Wharf.
We organized the car, went into downtown, which is really trendy (as San Fran is alleged to be), and generally walked around the Wharf area. It’s a very pretty city, but all everyone raves about! We had dinner at Joes Crab Shack, which had the slogan
You can’t always have what you want in life, but you can always have crabs!
I thought that was brilliant, and the food was yummy! We walked the Pier at dusk and saw the seals that live there, very noisy! Generally chilled out and had a wicked time. Can’t wait for this road trip, I have never been to Organ or Northern California. And although I went to Seattle recently, I like it a lot so Bon voyage!
