So I am a week out from chapter two of my European Adventure.I thought I was checking off a major to do on my bucket list when I woke up in Spain last year.Although it wasn't so much the adventures and memories I made in Spain that stuck with me through the year as much as sitting at a sidewalk bar in Seville with some amazing friends I made over the month saying, "I am going to spend my next birthday here."
Little did I know, thanks to a seed planted in my head by a professor, this random drunken statement would become a reality.I feel like I am walking into this not only a little excited but also a little cocky.Last year I walked into a country I had never been where I barely spoke the language or know where anything was and in about thirty days walked out with a tear in my eye because I wasn't sure when I would be back.As luck would have it, almost one year to the day I will be boarding a plane back to my beloved Spain.
Last year the theme was the Breakfast Club; this year, the theme is The Real World Espana. We will be exploring a new city together, living in close tight quarters and working a random job during the day and parting at night. The only differences are there will be no video cameras, well none that are going to be running 24/7 and there will not be a confessional that we can sneak into in the middle of the night.Unless of course we break into some random church.
All in all, as the day gets closer I get more excited and anxious, clawing at the walls for this adventure to start. As for the people, I feel like I have already gotten some insight into them with the help of Facebook and random posts and conversations we have had up to this point.
So provided the world doesn't end on May 21, 1011, I cannot wait to be back on European soil on May 25, 2011 at 7:40 A.M.!!!!!!!!!!!
