Hi everyone, its been another long time coming for this blog entry.
We have been in Australia for over 6 weeks now, its really flown over and are loving every minute.
We started in Cairns at the end of October, which was brilliant, we went to Josepgine Falls, which was freezing, And got very drunk a few nights!!!! We went Scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, We went to Airlie Beach, where we went to the Whitsunday Islands, which were fantastic, Whitehaven beach is unreal, its feels like snow to walk on. We made a few little stop offs on the way, The town of 1770 was brilliant, the first place we could actually swim in the water without worrying about stingers or crocs or sharks!!! At least at Crosby beach you only have to worry about the statues!! We had our first surf lesson in 1770, with what can only be described as an instructor shaped like a capital D. He decided that he didnt want to get in the water by us, so went off for a swim at the other end of the beach!!! The hostel we stayed in here was probably the best so far, really chilled out and laid back, really nice atmosphere to it. We also went on the Thundercat, you may have seen the pictures already, 1st of all you are attached to the back of a boat which pulls you in a dinghy all over the place, you are then placed in sumo suitsand dragged by your arms at about 50km/hour and really hurts but was so much fun.
From there we went Hervey Bay, which is basically where everyone goes before going to Fraser Island. We had to wait a few days as there were a few storms heading towards Fraser. Like true Brits, we went to see the new Bond film the night it got released over here, which was about 3 weeks after the UK, the only people in the cinema were brits!!!
Fraser Island was fantastic, we met up with our group the night before going and went out for a few drinks, which was a good get to know each other evening, there were 10 people in total. We had to drive a big 4 wheel drive, which was like a tank to drive, went to places such as Lake Mackenzie (best place on the island, we loved it) Lake Wabby, Indian Heads and Eli Creek. On the 1st night we camped on an aboriginal camp, the 2nd night we were on a camp site & got a camp fire going. The night we returned, it was one of the girls from our groups birthday and went out for something to eat & drink. We were catching the Greyhound bus early the next morning, but I was up until 3 in the morning drinking with Gavin, one of the Scottish lads from our group.
We then went to Noosa, which was really good, we did our 2nd surf lesson here, but it is very frustrating and not easy to pick up. We went to Australia Zoo, which is Steve Irwin's zoo, which was fantastic, all of the animals are virtually free to roam around where-ever they want, And fell in love with a baby kangaroo, she named Rupert!!
We then went to Brisbane and met up with a few of the people from Fraser Island, Dom, Bianca, Gavin, Kim & Janien. Had a good night out when we arrived and saw our 1st xmas tree in Australia!!.
From here we went to Byron Bay, which was fantasric, we both loved the place, so chilled out and relaxed. We went hang-gliding by the lighthouse, which was unreal. We stayed in possibly the nicest hostel ever in Byron, unbelievably nice.
We are currently in Coffs Harbour and both did a trapeze lesson today(pics will be up soon) and move onto Port Macquarie tomorrow. We will be in Sydney next week and are there for xmas and cannot wait.
Anyway, thats our story so far, we will try and update our blogs a little more often if possible!!
