Hey thought I would carry on from where Dal left off and tell you about the rest of our week in Thailand so far.
Well as Dal said we booked a tour of some of the temples for our first whole day in Bangkok. We were being picked up at 9am so had to get up early and went down for breakfast which was included with our room. Was quite nice just had some fruit but Dal had an Asian breakfast which was rice and chicken in like a soup thing strange breakfast but nice. Anyway the lady for our tour picked us up and we went to the temple of The Reclining Buddha. It is so big i'll put the pics on so you can see very impressive. Got lots of pictures of the temple itself but im not sure what most parts of it are, the lady did explain but I have a brain like a sieve since ive been here I don't even know what the day is half the time!!!!! We then went to the temple of the golden buddha the only solid gold buddha in Thailand, got pics but its shiney so they didn't come out great. The tour guide then took us to a jewellery factory where they make all different jewellery from the precious stones they find in Thailand. Well you know why they take you here the people there are very good at their jobs and take you round showing you how things are made and then take you to the shop and show you all the jewellery. Well I like jewellery as some may know and ended up buying a pair of earrings which I haven't even worn yet. They only cost me 16 pounds I could of bought a few drinks with that but their nice. After they then took us to a tailors obviously for the same reason they take you to the jewellery shop but Dal is more assertive than me and said he didn't need a suit!! Last but not least they take you to the museum of Jade where they tell you about all the different types of Jade there are and all that boring stuff. We brought a little Jade buddha for luck though something else we brough. We finally finished the tour and got dropped off, we went to get some food and ended up having an indian which was ok but Dal didn't enjoy it as I think he was expecting it to be like the bengal at home!!!!!! To top off our expensive day we also went out in the evening for dinner and drinks, we found an Irish bar don't you always!!!!!!! The best thing about it was it was inside and they had aircon so it was nice an cool, if you were here you would know what i meant its like being in a sauna constantly being outside. Luckily we have aircon in our room as you wouldn't be able to sleep otherwise. We got home around 2.30 after getting McD's (I tell you im never gonna loose weight!!!!!).
The next day we took it easy and had a quite and less expensive day which was good.
Friday we went to one of their shopping malls called the MBK center. It is absolutley massive 7 floors and there are just so many shops you would never be able to go in them all. On the 7th floor they have loads of internet cafes, arcades and a mutiplex cinema. We decided to go and see Spiderman 3 which came out that day which was really good. It is so strange they really love their royal family here and play the national anthem in the cinema and everyone has to stand up. We both stood up too as it says it is polite to do so but it was very strange!!!!! Once we had finished in the cinema we went shopping (my favorite thing to do). We brought a new camera and a portable dvd player as it is so boring in the rooms sometimes and we need something to do when we haven't got any money. Took it easy in the evening and watched dvds after having dinner.
Saturday we chilled out again and just went for a walk in Khaosan Road and had a few drinks.
Sunday we both went for a Thai massage, it is one of the most painful things ever. I thought I was gonna go in and have a nice relaxing massage but no they put you in some strange moves that some people should never be put in!!!! At one point Dal said the lady had him in a full nelson!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could safely say that i've now tried this and would probably never again pay for someone to inflict so much pain on me!!!! Mum you will be glad to know and see from the pics that Dal has shaved both his beard and his hair aswell so all tidy again for a while!!! We went to a bar in the evening to watch the Chelsea, ManU match as were 6 hours infront it was 10pm here. They have the footy on in most places so was easy to see it the only problem is some of the games are on so late Dal can't stay awake!!!
Monday we eventually went to the Grand Palace after so many days of say we would go. We also decided to get on a Tuc Tuc, it is like being on a ride they drive so fast and the traffic here is mad. The funniest thing about the whole day is that you can't go in with short trousers on, Dal had 3/4 lenght trousers on so had to borrow trousers from there like alot of people did. He got the fantastic colour of purple the wear and it was so funny, you can't really see from the pictures the colour as they look blue but got some good shots for you!!!!!! Once we had finished in the Grand Palace the Tuc Tuc took us to some big buddha and got some pics of that too. We were then taken to a place to book our tickets for the train to Chang Mai. We booked the train, a trek in Chang Mai, the train to get down to Surat Thani in the south of the island. Which is where you get the boat to Ko Samui. We have accomodation in Ko Samui and also Ko PhaNgan for the Full Moon party which is on 31st May.
Well everyone thats where were now up to so hopefully will get to go on the internet after our trek to let you know where we are. The trek is for 3 days and 2 nights so not long then were back in Chang Mai and then down to Surat Thani to go to Ko Samui.
Hope everyone is ok. Speak to you soon.
Love Sian and Dal xxxxxx
