Today, Monday, May 21st, I toured the McErlain family bakery, Genesis Crafty. The family bakery used to only be a small shop in the middle of Magherafelt. The McErlain family lived on the second floor over the bakery. Today the bakery has grown in to a large bakery, which ships to grocery stores all over the United Kingdom. The seven children of Great Aunt Bertie and Great Uncle Joe, six sons and one daughter, have worked in the bakery since they were little and today they still work in the bakery. After putting on a hair net and some shoe covers (very fashionable accessories) I was lead through the bakery and the processes of making all the pasteries. I saw pies, sweet rolls, cupcakes, soda bread, pancakes, and custom cakes being made as I walked through the bakery. I cannot believe that my relatives own such a successful business in Ireland and now every morning on my visit, as I am eating my pastry from the family bakery, I can really appreciate the work that goes into owning the business and making the pasteries! Blog again soon!
