Went on the train through the jungle to close to Machu Pichu, saw an Inca fort/temple. The Incas grew over 190 types of potato and used small grass balconies as micro climates to grow them. The construction was very impressive and teh quarry for the big rocks was over a mile away. Flew back to Cusco which is 2 miles above sea level. Have been told to expect altitude sickness which is dizziness, numbness, nausia and a headache but seem to be OK so far. Cuzco is a lovely city. Got up early to go and find some flocks of parrots (Macaws). They eat clay in the mornings to aid digestion of the fruit they eat which can sometimes be toxic. Went in the afternoon to see capochin monkeys and then trecked through the jungle to a small village and cannoed back. Rain forest not as hot as I thought and it has not rained yet.
