We got an overnight night train to Yogyakarta, which is on the west coast of Java.It took 10 hours and was a surprisingly comfortable journey.Of course, I got no sleep as usual but I'm use to that now. They were playing music about 6 in the morning on the train, all local stuff and then from out of know where there came masterplan by oasis.Good start to the morning. So when we arrived and got off the train we were hounded by loads of taxi men and hotel people. This has to be the worst part to traveling. After saying no about forty times we set off in search of a travel agency we had been recommended.Whilst trying to get there we was followed the whole way by a fat local man trying to get us to stay in his hotel and book through his agency, we kept saying no but he wouldn't leave us alone. The agency didn't open until about 8 am so we had time to kill. After some time on the internet and still being followed by this fat man we checked in to some hotel, not his though.I was shattered from the journey so I decided to sleep whilst Mark went to book us some tours. At mid day we set off to visit the Borobudar, the biggest buddiast temple in the world. It's ranked along side Angkor Wat but it's no where near as impressive. They say it was constructed in the 9th century.Supposedly it was forgotten about and then re-discovered in 1814.I'm not quite sure how you would go about forgetting a huge temple, but never mindK.It was quite impressive but you could see it has had a lot of restoration work carried out on it and a lot of its original detail was discarded.Being in this neck of the woods is like being a celebrity.Every one is staring at you, giggling. It's like they have never seen a white man before.Ok, no word of a lie but I had my picture taken 11 times.Sometimes with groups of twenty, women old enough to be your mum, guys which could be your dad.Even some dudes paid for a proper professional picture with me and the temple in the back ground. Not that I minded but it does get a bit frustrating as all I wanted to do was look at the temple. After here we visited a volcano called Gunung Merapi. It's one of the most active volcanos in the world.Whilst being here it was smoking away.Well it was in the morning as the sun was shining. Now it was pouring down and we couldn't see the top as it was in the clouds. This volcano erupted in 1994 killing 59 people, 2001 and also 2006.Lets be honest it would be cool to see.Great story to tell, if you survived.I can just imagine a write up in the sun newspaper about 2 lads from Haywards Heath who had been killed in a freak eruption whilst visiting Merapi, Java.Back to the point. So it's freezing cold and soaking wet standing at a foot of a volcano. It was quite impressive to see as the only one I had seen before was mount T day in Tenerife. After almost catching our death it was time to head back to the hotel. This town doesn't have much to offer tourists. The sights are good but it's not equipped for tourists. We settled on a McDonalds and then wasted our night on the internet. In the morning we were leaving to Mount Bromo at 9 30.Another 12 hours on a bus so that should be fun……
