Have managed to get my arse in gear and leave Koh Phangan, its good to be near an internet connection again after nearly three weeks in the jungle.
Haven't really seen much yet as I've just arrived. Enough time to was my stinking body then get a large Singa beer. I'm not even sure where my guesthouse is to be honest, I just got off the bus and spoke to the first guesthouse owner who was talking sensible money. Room is nice with a comfortable bed (at last) but the warm shower the owner promised me turned out to be a crok of s***e.
The plan is to head to Koh Lanta from here (after a few days to rest from the travelling and jungle hikes that have been achieved in the last three weeks). Was a bit of a rench leaving Koh Phangan today as I'd met some really cool people there, especially the resort owners and managers. Also, today was the last time I'll see Andy who I've been with pretty much everyday for the last six weeks. He's heading to Hua Hin today to see his Thai bird.
I'm sure that I'll have more to report tomorrow, take it easy everyone,
Day 2
Was planning to check out today but overslept and missed check out time so decided to stay another night. Handed my washing in at reception and was told that it wouldnt be ready until tomorrow afternoon. Then went for a walk into Krabi town, man what a dump. Its deserted here and there are only a few farang around, looks as though I've headed to the wrong part of Krabi. Came back to the guesthouse after realising that I wasn't going to find any action in town and drowned my sorrows with two large Singa. Had my first encounter with a dangerous looking spider in my room after battling with a cockroach first. This f***ing spider was well quick, I had to chase him around my room for the best part of 10 minutes before he finally met Mr Adidas. At least I know now that they cant jump!!! Then crashed out for the rest of the day and woke up just as they had closed the hotel bar - gutted!
Day 3
Have now got to spend another night as I'm waiting for my washing but have booked my boat ticket and accommodation for Koh Lanta. This island is in the south near the border with Malaysia and has been described as the new Phi Phi. Other than that, I've got no idea as to what else is on the island (you see it doesn't pay not to do your homework, or so my teachers always told me). Will chill there for a week and improve my tan, then head into Cambodia.
