Hi ya'll,
Am now on Koh Lanta, last leg of the Thailand adventure before hitting Cambodia. The weather is sweltering and my bungalow is only 20 metres from the beach. Have met some cool people already and have intorduced Mr Arse to Madame Hammock. There are people from all over the place, the ones that I've me so far include 2 brits, a German, a Mexican and a Canadian. Just chilled yesterday on arrival and had a few beers and games of s***head in the evening.
Beach is really nice and quite long, there are also some good diving spots nearby so might do a fun dive if funds permit. Bunglow looks as if it might have been damaged in the Tsunami as I've got these funny stains all over the place. I'm not actually sure if it made its way this far south, perhaps I'll ask someone.
Keep running out of Rizlas so I've got to go to the SevenEleven now.
Day Two
Lots more special time with the hammock today, its right on the beach and you can lay in it whilst improving your tan. The friendly bar staff will also bring you a beverage without you having to shift your arse - excellent service I think you'll agree. Had to kill a massive cockroach in my bathroom today - man he was big, probably the biggest I've had to tackle yet. Funny thing is, when I came back to my room later, the crushed remains had managed to work their way over to the other side of the bathroom. Very suspicious. Had I really killed it? I was sure that I had so I returned to my hammock.
Day three
You guessed it, spent the day in my hammock. Further development in the moving crushed cockroach situation, I've found a lizard in my bathroom as well and I suspect he's responsible for my dilusional state. He's been the one moving the cockroaches remain around the bathroom. That b******. I tried to chase him off aswell with the shower but he seemed to quite enjoy it. I think I'll let him stay in residence, hopefully he'll catch himself some massive spiders that are out to get me.
Day four (I think),
Fell off a moto today and had to go to hospital. I'm fine (I can hear Hatcher laughing from here!). Just gashed the back of my arm open and lots of grazing and bruising. I was bowling down this hill at a leisurely pace, starting to break. Hit some dirt on the road and the rear brake locks up, spilling me onto the tarmac. Over comes this Thai guy, who at first I thought was congratulating me on my outstanding dismount, but then he pointed to my arm. I then realised that my removal from the bike probably hadn't been that graceful after all. This dude then sat me down and cleaned my up. He also retrieved my bike frm the ditch for me. His mum (I think), then came back and took a look. Her only words to me were "you go hospital". I must be picking up the language really well as I understood her completely.
The Thai health system is so efficient. The dude who had picked my sorry arse up off the road took me to hospital in his moto and self constructed side car. I was seen straight away, cleaned and bandaged, given two bags of pills, one for before I eat, one for after I eat then sent on my merry way. All for 100 Baht (1.40 british quids).
After that I just stayed in my bungalow feeling sorry for myself, occasionally checking if the damage to the bike had disappeared - it hadn't.
Also found an even biger lizard hiding under my rucksack but managed to stave him off with nothing more than my flip flop. The bloody things are moving in, whats next - a snake!!!
Day five and six
More creatures encountered. First a cockroach had managed to get himself trapped in a bucket of water in the bathroom - the fool. He got flushed down the toilet. Then found a massive spider in the corner of the room. At first I though that it was lots of cracks in one of the pillars that supports my bungalow and nothing to worry about but closer investigation revealed that infact it was a bloody lairy spider. Flip flops at the ready, I was able to plan my attach thoroughly before executing a sideways bombardment. Two direct hits and he was no more. The ants kindly removed the remains from my room for me.
Just been chilling on the beach for the past two days, my feet have been bitten big time. I must have about 30 on each foot and they have made my feet swell up. Need to get my travel arrangements for Cambodia sorted today, then hit the beach again.
More exciting sotries to follow.
Hope its cold where you are.
