Hi Everyone,
Day 1
I've arrived in Bangkok safe and sound. it's well hot, about 34 degrees at the moment - thank god for air con. New York was pretty good, saw most of the major sites and spent lots of money on clothes. Eat some wicked food whilst there and have probably put on some weight, good job there's no scales in my hotel eh!
Flight to bangkok was very tiring, feels like I've been awake for about a week but I'm not feeling too tired at the moment. Hotel is OK and everyone here seems really friendly. Have met a dude from Brighton calledMmike and am planning to go out on the town tonight with him and some freinds he met here last year. Am looking forward to hitting the beaches over christmas but the plan is to head north from Bangkok to Chang Mai to trek amongst the hill tribes for a week or so. I'll probably be leaving to head north on Monday but I'll keep this updated as and when significant events happen.
Day Two
Got up at about 5pm after a heavy session on Khosan Road on my first night. Have discovered a number of bruises and have no idea how they got there - must have been drunk which is un-useual for me I know! Just went for a walk around town in the evening. They have live premiership football everywhere here so I watched United stuff City 3-1 - all good there then. Jet lag is stiching me up big time, 2 hours sleep last night then wide awake till breakfast time came.
Day 3
Got up at about 9am, had some banana pankakes for breakfast. Am travelling to Chang Mai on the overnight train Monday evening so had to go and organize my train ticket. Had my first Tuk Tuk ride today, 20 Baht for a three hour jaunt around town (approx 30 pence). Driver was pretty cool and spoke good english, he gave me lots of reccommendations of what else to see before I leave Bangkok. He also took us to lots of suit tayloring places as obviously, a three peice suit will come in well handy when trekking in the mountains. He did however take us to some wicked temples and I saw a 45metre high gold buddah, pretty impressive. Will probably just potter around town for the rest of the day, will get to the Grand Palace at some point this afternoon.
Take it easy (you know I am).
Dan
