I'm the king of Cambodia!!!!
What am mission. It all started on Koh Lanta at 2.30pm. Mr Un hadn't booked my bus to the airport so decides thast he'll drive me himself. I'ts meant to take and hour and a half but on the way, he ghets a phone call from his mated who have found a load of abandoned oil drums at the basck of a building site. What a result, so he spends the next hour ferrying these drums back and forth until he finally persuades his mate with a taxi to do the rest. We then finally get back on the road then there are delays at the ferry and we have to wait at least two hours to get across to the mainland. Eventually we're on our way but I discover that Mr Un tyres must be bald as the truck is all over the place when going round corners. We're douing about 120km/h on the straight bits as my flight leaves in an hour and were 70k from the airport."
I make it to the airport just in time to check in then get told my filghts been delayed for an hour - sods law! Eventually get into bangkok at about 9pm. Lokks like I'm staying here tonight as flight to Phnom Pehn is at 7am in the morning. The bloody aircon pissed me off.
I decided to sleep on a row or metal chairs after I'd had a wonder round anf fed myself where I met this interesting guy who lived in America. I can remember his name but he was originally from Burma but had been banged up for 7 years for being a opponent of the government. He had then moved to Thailand then onto America where he raised a family.
After chatting to him for most of the night, I bumped into three girls from Sunderland (Dawn, Angie and Corina) in the check in queue for the flight to Cambodia. The were heading to travel to Siem Reap so I decided to tag along as they were all a good laugh. We got into Phonm Penn and negotiated for a taxi to take us the rest of the way (about 320km). $50 between four, not bad at all.
Am staying at a hotel that is $50 a night but the bed is well comfortable and its the first time in nearly two months that I've had hot water.
The next day we had a early start at 4am to get ready to see the Temples of Angkor. A Tuk Tuk picked us up at 5am then took us for sunrise at Angkor Wat. This was amazing and I've got some wicked photos. We then visited a hot air ballon to get a birds eye view of Angkor Wat. It was very early in the morning and the mist was rising up from the jungle and you could just make it out through the jungle - spectacular!!
We then spend the rest of the day visiting the other temples. My favourite by far was the one where they filmed Thomb Raider. There are treet growing on top of the ruins, wait till you see the pictures. Then back to the hotel for an early night as we travel back to Phonom Pehn by car tomorrow morning
