After arriving in Bangkok (not mentioning Dubai coz it was dog s***) we found our hostel with relative ease. Nice small room, I got the bunk bed. We stayed in the heart of the red light district and there were titty bars and ping pong shows on every corner (Ill leave you to consider what these are). Bangkok is a very busy city with lots to do and see - so me and Stace got a boat taxi to the old city and saw the emerald buddha and grand palace. The emrald Buddha is possibly the most awesome thing I have ever seen. Unfortunately your not allowed to take pics of it but Im sure Ill never forget it.
We also went on a day trip to see the bridge over the river Kwai which was brill - seeing the war cemetary and going up the river on a boat to the bridge. Amazing time.
After seeing a few more temples and having a few nights out - meeting people along the way we set off to Sukhothai for the Loi Krathong festival. Greg and Neil left to go down south for the beaches. We caught the train which took 6 hours to reach our destination. We landed in a place called Phitsanulok and had to catch a local bus to Sukhothai. Meeting a German lady called Sabina - we ended up going with her and staying in the same resort as her - costing 200 THB (4 pound per night). Luckily for us the resort was amazing - we made our own Kathongs (floating things that we put in the river) - mine was s*** coz all the dutch people nicked all the flowers. We then got a truck to the festival (free of charge) and saw the temples at night which was fantastic. On the way back we went to a bar with some others from Poland, China, Italy, Leeds! and locals. The tequila was ordered and it got messy. We made some good friends in Sukhothai and are actually sharing a room with the Italian guy we met.
