Blog Day 90 Thurs 4th August 2011
We are off to Krabi today, leaving at 6am and arriving at 3pm. (We have also been together 7 ½ years today!!!) After checking in & freshening up we source out the town, it's about a 20min walk into the center of the town and there are people the whole way offering you taxis despite the fact that its 1 main road, & again trying to sell you suits & gadgets etc. We have a late lunch and then it's back to hotel to chill out for rest of evening. Might I add that this is probably the most comfortable bed that we have slept in for a long while!
Blog day 91 Fri 5th August 2011
Well this morning any plans for a lay in went firmly out the window. Right next door to our hotel there is another hotel being built, and it sounds as though some extremely skilled Thai tradesmen are hard at work. However there is one idiot (it's nice to know that they exist the world over and not just on sites in the UK) who is, what can only be described as, raping an air conditioning unit with a hammer 50 yards from our room. Needless to say we are awake!
We laze around for an hour or so before heading off for a walk along the front. We plough our way through the offers of taxis and custom suits to a little café that has free Wi-Fi. We spend the next hour or so trying to decide what we should do next. We have emailed STA to see if we can bring our flight to Australia forward, but there are no seats available. We would have to book a whole new flight and in turn swallow the cost of the flight that has already been booked. So that's a no-goer. We also look into flying from Phuket to Oz but that is proving to be an expensive mission. So we are stuck in this part of the world until 5th September.
The next decision is where we should head from here. We are both more than fed up of being hassled every 5 minutes to look 'for free' in shops and if we want a friggin taxi, yes see how many times have we said it now, it's annoying! We both just want to get to somewhere where we can sit and chill. Unfortunately this leads to frayed tempers, which doesn't get us anywhere so we pay the bill and go for a walk along the sea front. This calms us both down a bit and we end up going snap happy with the camera & buying an ice-cream.
We head back to the café to book our next few nights on Railay Beach. Decision made!
This place is a stone's throw away from Ao Nang but is only accessible by taking a long tail boat for 100 baht (£2) each. With this booked we head back to the hotel to chill out with a movie and a Pot Noodle.
