First of all, Happy Anniversary to Mommy and Daddy Hartpence!!!!
Today was a very good day...minus the 7am wake up so we could check out from our current room and go to our next (since we extended our stay here in Nice). Around 8am we caught the shuttle down to the tram stop...which was nice because we didn't have to walk down the mountain...where we caught the tram to the Port. By 9am we were on board a boat so that we could all go scuba diving!!! Since the two Danny's forgot their PADI Open Water certification cards, they had to join the ladies in the instructor guided dives. We all went down at the same time (since Danny G had a great idea to buy an under water camera, we took some good photos) we were the last ones to go. It was soooo much fun. We took the boat a few miles off shore to a little cove area, with some rocks and coral and a lot of big and small fish and Danny H even got to touch an octopus. It was such a good time diving in the Mediterranean Sea, the water was so nice and clear! Since the girls have never been diving before; they were a little nervous but once they got under the surface they were like mermaids!
After our dive trip, (we stayed under for about 35 minutes...it wasn't as long as we would have wanted but for 35 euros, we guess it was not a bad deal-considering we didn't have any equipment) the two couples split up for a little bit, Danny G and Laura went to the beach for a little R&R while we came back to the hostel for a much needed nap. Our new room, although a little more expensive is a private room (with no stairs leading to it) with a bunk bed. It is nice since we get to overlook the garden area. We took a nap for a couple of hours, and what do you know, a few minutes after we woke up, Danny and Laura showed up. They got a shower and changed clothes before dinner in our bathroom (since they were heading back to Metz for class on a night train around 9 or so). Dinner at the hostel tonight was fabulous...chicken fajitas!!! To accompany our much desired mexican food was a bottle of Sangria for each couple!! Nice!!! After we ate, we said bye to Danny and Laura (it was a really fun time hanging out with them eventhough it has been a while for the two Dannys, it seemed like old times, reminiscing of times from Counterpane and when they were young...hopefully they'll be able to hang out more when we're back in the States.) and decided to order another bottle of wine. During our bottle of wine we also heard updates from the EuroCup Finals between Spain and Germany. Spain Won! We didn't watch the game because there was no place to sit down in the tv/bar/dinning room area, so we sat outside and drank wine!!
Now we are getting ready to go to bed and updating on our day. Tomorrow we may just go shopping and hang out at the beach near by for a little while and get some more muscles (since Leigh is addicted) until we head to Interlaken, Switzerland for 3 more nights. (we can't wait for Switzerland, we've heard so much good things about it...as recommended by Danny and Laura!!) Also we have heard that there are some ancient Roman ruins around where we are staying, so we might check that out as well. We decided not to go to Lyon because we couldn't find a hostel worth staying at; and our sightseeing legs have been worn down a little bit. Check our travel plan for where we will be and dates.
So, we will update again before we head from one extreme to the other (HOT! to Cold!!) and Happy Anniversary again to Mom and Dad Hartpence!!!
