I am in Hervey bay at the moment and going to fraser island tomorrow which is the biggest sand island in the world (more about that next time!)
Half of my last blog seems to have disappeared so i will start again from the surf museum!
Went to surf camp which was great fun, was standing up nearly every time and we even got to see wild dolphins about 300meters away from us which was incredible, although some people did think they were sharks to start with!
After surf camp we went to byron bay for a few days which was really chilled out, lots of hippies walking around. We also did a day trip to Nimbin which is a small place 45min drive from byron, this was an experience. Apparently australian police turn a blind eye on what happens here so you can by any 'local herbs' you want quite easily!
After byron i headed up to surfers paradise, this was skyscrapers and bright lights. Had some good nights out there but after 3 days my liver had defiantly had enough! Leaving surfers we headed to brisbane but before we got there we made a stop off at a zorbing field. This was so much fun, there were 3 off us in a big inflatable ball with water inside getting pushed down a hill, it was like one big water side with people falling on top of each other and if we didn't now each other that well before we certainly do now! Arrived in Brisbane at 7pm got changed had food then sampled a few bars before having to get back on a bus at 6am the following day, so i have no idea whether Brisbane is any good!
After Brisbane i went to Noosa which is like a retirement village but the beach was really nice and there is a huge national park area for nice walks and you can see lots of australian wildlife, how ever it did rain non stop for the whole time i was there so didn't actually get to do any of that! I did go to the Australian Zoo, (steve irwin's zoo) which i absolutely loved. I got to feed a Kangaroo, elephant and a goat. I also watched the big reptile, bird and croc show which was fun, felt slightly scared when 10ft pythons are loose in the arena, but was still worth it.
Between Noosa and Hervey bay is a small town called rainbow beach where i stopped for 24hours which was plenty. The sand is supposed to be multi-colored but i feel slightly cheated as it was like any other beach on the east coast of australia, i did however manage to catch up on my sleep and give my liver a break before i head off to Fraser Island tomorrow.
