I only have 2 weeks left here now. We leave and head back to Brisbane to do the rest of the East Coast obn 29th April. 26hr bus journey booked!
In the last however many weeks i have definitely seen a few more places. And have been quick to realise that perhaps Mt Isa does have a few charms.
I've now made a few visits to Lake Moondarra. Admittedly the first couple were a bit grey but I had a go at wakeboarding and kneeboarding nonetheless. And it's great fun! And yet more watersports I clearly will never master! Wakeboarding also left me without the use of my arms for a good few days. Just what you need when you work behind a bar!
Emma, Virginia and me also joined Dean, Benny, Luke and the gang for a wakeboarding competition. Watching obviously! Not taking part! We caught a ride out on a boat for a spot of kneeboarding. I'm quite certain the combination of bra and bikini bottoms was a fail as I went crashing along the water.
Dean took me out for a motorbike tour of Mt Isa. It's a little different to England - perfectly acceptable to be wearing flip flops and shorts. I have been promised there is more to see so I shall see what this weekend brings.
And..I've been up to the lookout in town. We ventured up at midnight and it was a pretty stunning view. I was quite shocked! The town and the mine were lit up and the sky was clear. But the nights are getting a bit chilly here. I guess that's what comes with being in the desert. I thought my British blood was supposed to be able to take the cold.
Nothing really compares to our helicopter ride. Emma, Virginia and mysself were treated by Benny to a 15 minute copter ride over the mine and the lake and Mt Isa. Really cool!! It pretty much made 3 months in the outback all worthwhile.
All of these things make me think I might end up missing this place. I don't want to leave my little bit of Itally (Virginia!) behind!
But me and Emma have made plans and they go a little like this:-
Brisbane > Noosa > Fraser Island > Agnes Water > Whitsundays > Magnetic Island > Townsville > Mission Beach > Cairns > Cape Tribulation
Not to mention the Melbourne and Great Ocean Road trip I have in mind for when Katie and Frankie come over, the trip to Fiji for my birthday and wine tasting in the Hunter Valley for Emma's birthday. It looks like me and Emma will have to pick up more work along the way!
Not really missing home yet but I'd do anything for a reasonably priced banana and a good quiche with coleslaw salad!

Jane Ryan Hi Danni Motorbikes travel too dangerous in flip flops and shorts. Leather bikers safety clothes etc. necessary. STAY SAFE AND KEEP ENJOYING YOUR TRAVELS.
tracy Hey you! Sounds blinking fantastic! Rest assured quiche and coleslaw will be readily available even in a year's time. I will personally make you one for your return and I'll even make the coleslaw. Hows that to keep to going! Have fun little one, T x
