Charleston, South Carolina - St. Augustine, Florida - Daytona Beach
Miles travelled - 280 (approx)
Usual day today, up, washed, breakfast, tents down, everything in the van then we're off to St. Augustine which was the first European Settlement in North America. Weather was great again, shorts and sunglasses on.Our group stayed together and we visited a pirate treasure hunt. It had a lot of information about pirates, but we just wanted to do the treasure hunt and get the sticker at the end. We completed the treasure hunt then went a walk near the sea front and Castillo de san Marcos, a stone and mortar fort situated next to the water. We also did rolly-polies down the big hill towards the fort. Very childish but very funny at the same time, there's a video of us doing it too. We took some pictures near the cannons at the fort, doing some casual squats then we walked through the town centre. A lovely place, a little old timey though, but nice and historic if you're into that kinda thing.
Ali had mentioned previously that she really likes fudge, and we seen on out map there was solace called 'The Fudge Bucket'. So we figured if we got her fudge to literally sweeten her up, we'd have a better chance of staying at the hooters hotel. She was delighted at her fudge, and it must have worked, because we seen her looking at it online later on at camp! We had left St.Augustine and we were camping near Daytona beach at night. It Was still really warm when we arrived but you could tell it was due to rain. By the time we set up camp, dinner still wasn't ready, so Katie, Katy and I walked to the K Mart about 5 minutes up the street for some beer. By the time we got there it was pouring down from the heavens, and I was in my jammies!! So we quickly ran back, got our jackets then ran into the cooking area where Nathan, Francesca and Jin were cooking chicken fajitas. After dinner we tidied up but we were informed we could stay in the room until 11 at night. So we spent the night having a few drinks and playing 'never have I ever'. Then we found some hula hoops! And spent a good few minutes trying to spin them. Jodie and I failed fantastically, then Jin tries it and he is a pro! We tried to put more hoops on him but then we ruined it sadly! Just at that point the owner came in to say it was 11pm. So we tidied up and retreated back to our tents in the rain.
