Hey guys,
ok, so where were we...chilling in the Blue Mountains that's right, so after spending a few days doing that we decided it was time to experience some East Coast Australia. We started out in Port Maquarie which we loved, we were in a great campsite right on the beach which always helps, we were gonna do a boat trip + a camel ride but opted for lazing on the beach instead - camping is hard work!!! Next we stopped at Coffs Harbour where we were going to do a dive - with Sharks (only little ones) but the boat was full so we were unable to do that. Onward to Surfers Paradise which was ok but far too many high rise appartments to be paradise. Then we went to Caboolture to see our friends Anna + Den, we met back up with Mel + Christine also. Much fun was had there, this time invovling too much rose`and late night swimming!!!
We headed back down south to Byron Bay which we loved, it is our favourite beach in Australia, the water is a beautiful. Then back up for another day at Anna + Dens where we said farewell to Mummy + Auntie. We set off in the morning for Hervey Bay, from here we did a 2 day tour of Fraser Island which was fab. We had a lovely group who were great fun and Fraser was wicked, a bit cloudy on the first day but bright blue skies for the 2nd when we went to gorgeous Lake Makenzie.
Next stop was Bundaberg where we went to Mon Repos beach and saw loggerhead + green turtle hatch and make their run to the sea, they were sooooooooo cute.
We then went to the town of 1770 which usually has the most amazing sunsets but we had a blanket of cloud covering!! We did an awesome boat trip to Lady Musgrave Island where we snorkelled alot, did a dive at the outer wall of the Great Barrier Reef where we saw 2 manta rays which came really close and I(Dani)was a little scared!! and Mike saw a big turtle.
I forgot to mention that after we left Hervey Bay we hit the 'tropical' weather, or it hit us!! The rain started and has not really stopped since. Anyhow we went to Airlie Beach to cruise the Whitsundays, we waited for five days, but the weather was too bad so unfortunately we couldn't do that.
We stopped at Mackay for Valentines, not that it is a romantic place and treated ourselves to a cabin and a lovely Thai meal.
Goodbye for now. Part three to follow shortly.
Dani + Mike
