20/1/07-6/4/07 Sydney
?G, Day Bruce/Sheila,
Crickey it's been a while. The past couple of months have been spent in Sydney, participating in that horrible necessity known as work. When we first arrived in Sydney we found a place to stay in a very large shared house full with Irish, Brazilian, Italian and New Zealanders. The place seemed lovely at first, good location, 5 mins from the beach, Great! Or so we thought until we discovered the other few thousand mini tenants which the landlord conveniently forgot to mention. The place was infested with cockroaches. After two weeks of living, eating, sleeping and drinking (we found three in the kettle) with our new little friends we had enough and decided to get our own little apartment in the heart of the city centre.
? ?James found work on the tugs in Sydney harbor within a week and I found work a few days later working with some of the most serious people I have ever come across in my life (the Aussie sense of humor is a bit different to back home).
?? Sydney is a very beautiful city with landmarks like the Oprah house and Sydney Harbor Bridge. The highlights of our time there was Australia day (the day the British discovered Australia), which was similar to the Beatles festival back home, a good excuse to have a bevy and listen to some live music in the sun, and when the QE2 and the Queen Mary came to meet at the Oprah house under the Sydney harbor bridge. The fire work show they put on was amazing which made up for us missing the New Year celebrations. Unfortunately James missed this cause he had taken a six week job on a ship and was three thousand miles away in the middle of the Indian Ocean getting us some more pennies for the holiday fund.
? ?Thankfully we had met back up with our Irish friends (Shane & Paula) who we met at the start of our trip in Thailand, without them that six weeks would have been unbearable, thanks Guy's.
? ?Hopefully all that working malarkey is behind us now, the plan is to invest in a UTE and go see some of Australia keeping a look out for Mick Dundee, crocs, kangaroos or even Dame Edna Everage.
?Update soon Danielle&James
