7-9 January 07 Singapore
When we arrived in Singapore we stayed in the middle of little India and my god did the name suit, dark skin, white teeth and curry houses everywhere. (see pics) Later on that day we wen't to see China town and there ws just Chinese people everywhere, each nationality seemed to congrigate in their own little area's. 20 mins on the metro train and you can go from China to India. (Wanting to see the world go to Singapore).
That night we headed back to Little India where convieniently it was the Indian people's only night off from work. The Singapore government put special buses on for them (one night a week) to meet up with all there family and friends, there is just wobbly heads everywhere.
Whilst there, we visited the Botanis gardens, the night Safari and the Zoo, Steve Irwin said it was the best zoo in the world. The animals are not kept in cages they are more or less free to run around in there own little area's, seperated by small sections of water so the amimals don't venture into each other's territory. They have set it up so it is the humans who are caged as they are walking around near the dangerouse animals. Best zoo we have been.
Singapore as a city is amazing, sqeeky clean is an understatement, crime rates are virtually non-existant and they are easily 20 years ahead of everyone else. The transport system is like clockwork:- clean, reliable and regular. There is no need to have a car in Singapore as it would just be a waste of money. The only people who have cars in Singapore are buisness peolple who's company has supplied them with one.
Anyone caught with chewing gum in Singapor it is an on the spot fine, crossing the road at an undesignated area (J walking) is an on the spot fine, and as for criminals who DO actually break laws it's either a proper jail sentence or death. They don't piss about in Singapore!
Next stop Bali
