Sorry for the delay in blogs everyone. We have had the last few days in Birmingham with a different set of experiences.
On Thursday Margaret took us in to the city centre for some shopping and sightseeing. We parked the car in a centre carpark and went to grab a lift to the shops. As Margaret stepped up over a rise her shoe caught and she fell hitting her hip. We knew she was in trouble from the pain she was in. We called an ambulance and made her as comfortable as we could. Security arrived and did their best to help and thankfully the ambulance was very quick. She was transported to hospital and we drove her car to meet her. We spent the day with her until Sue & Jayne arrived and them gave them some time together. Margaret had cracked her hip and was to go in for an operation to insert a plate. Everyone at the hospital was fantastic and she was given a great room by herself. Both Jac & I have replayed the incident continually & if we had of been a step closer we may have caught her. It is a hard thing feeling so helpless but these things are out of our control. The good news is she had the op yesterday & everything went great. She is in good spirits which really helps the process and is up & about. We wish you both a speedy recovery and are constantly thinking of you. Paul (Sue's husband) came & grabbed us from the hospital & took us back home. Thanks guys for all your help, it is very much appreciated.
Yesterday we headed back in to the city centre. I grabbed some thermals as I am really feeling the cold. We also got umbrellas as we are in for a fair amount of rain in the next week. We bought Jac a new phone & one of the new Samsung tablets. It will make life easier as it does get a little tiresome typing on the small iPhone screen and at least now Jac & I will be able to separate if we need to. We returned home for some famous fish & chips (as recommended by Geoff & Jo) and retired for the evening.
Today we have just relaxed at home & did some washing. We have packed and ready to head to the airport tomorrow for our travels to Amsterdam. It has not been the same without Margaret here. We miss you and you will constantly be in our thoughts as we wish you the best in recovery. xxooxo
