Well we had a crappy hot sleep as we were expecting. Still we didn't get up until 10.30am & had a shower & took our first of many anti malaria pills. We packed & left our bags at the hostel & as we stepped out we were greeted by yet another 30 deg day. Our flight was not until the evening so we had to fill in a few hours. We walked through the Red Square & had our final European lunch at McDonalds of all places. Actually Maccas was the busiest place we have been to in Russia. Hooray for capitalism. After stretching out lunch for as long as we could we headed to the park by the Kremlin & sat in the shade of the trees. We were back at the hostel by 3pm & grabbed our packs before making our way to the challenge of the metro. Actually it wasn't that hard & we arrived at the correct station to catch the express train to the airport. We had a horrendously long check in & spent the next few hours waiting for our flight in the stifling heat of the airport. They really don't have air conditioning in Russia anywhere. And so after 2.5 years our time in Europe is over. We have seen world famous sites & experienced more of the world than we could of imagined when we left Australia. It has been a life changing experience. We have the whole travel thing down to a fine art now. We are sad to be leaving this amazing continent but at least we have Asia to explore before we return home. We're both looking forward to different food & a different culture. Although we are both tired. I don't know if it is because we have been traveling for 3.5 months, or whether we have just seen so many amazing things that we may be a little desensitized to the things we have been seeing lately, but we don't quite get the same buzz as we used to. And yet we wouldn't change anything at all. It is an amazing lifestyle to be living & has created memories that will last for the rest of our lives. So Russia as the last stop has been a little underwhelming. Once again maybe that is as a result of us being so tired. As a country we don't have plans to ever return here, but at least we got to see the famous sites that we wanted to. So Asia beckons & we are looking forward to having 5 days to rest up a bit & recuperate. We are getting closer to home, well we will be when we get this 17 hour travel day out of the way.
