A nice relaxing day today as we enjoyed a sleep in. Once up we had a nice fried breakfast on the balcony to enjoy the views. The skies were pretty dark and ominous letting us know what sort of day to expect. We jumped in the car and dropped our washing off at a laundromat. After much laughing and gesturing we had it all sorted for pickup in the evening. Well we hope so anyway. Then we went for a drive over to Meia Praia, a 4km stretch of golden sandy beach. We had a bit of a stroll but it was too windy to enjoy, so returned to the safety of the car. From there, we returned back to the beach from yesterday, as it was better protected. We found a spot near a cafe to set up and enjoy the view. Unfortunately a lot of that view was dominated by the rain rolling in from the ocean. It only took about 20 mins before it hit so we retreated inside for a coffee as we watched the storm hit. After a while it dissipated, so we returned to the beach, but this didn't last too long. It definitely wasn't a beach day. Well unless you're English, then it was beautiful beachside weather. Just need more rocks. So we succumbed to the elements and returned back to our apartment to read and relax for the afternoon. The weather never really improved, in fact it seemed to get windier and rainier, so it wasn't until the evening before we ventured outside. We journeyed down to pick up our washing, then headed into the centre for a feed. It was very quiet as we walked the main street with every waiter trying to get us in to their deserted establishment. The thing about the Portuguese people that we have found, & love, is that they are all very polite. They ask you inside, you say no, and they wish you a great day or night without hassling you further. In fact every native we have come across in this country has been most welcoming and friendly. Even those who don't speak English have a laugh and seem very friendly, and make you feel like you are not intruding. Lovely people for a lovely country, that's Portugal in a nut shell.
