Yesterday was our last day in Rome and not very exciting. We spent 6 hours in an Internet cafe planning our last section of our trip. We head to Frankfurt, Istanbul, Egypt for a 10 day tour, Athens and then return to the UK. Will be back in the UK about the 27th January as it's just about time to get some jobs and build some cash back up. So another month of travel and then back to the working life.
Our flight was late taking off today due to a technical fault on the plane. People were having a good whinge but I'm of the theory that with things like that they can take as long as they want. After an hour of sitting on the plane we were on our way. The flight was great due to the fact that we had front row, so plenty of leg room, and the most fun flight attendants we have ever had. It made the trip so much more enjoyable.
On our descent we were looking out to a pure white landscape. We have never seen snow like this in our lives and the sight was something to behold. We have both only experienced snow on the mountains but this is the real thing, covering everything and stretching as far as you can see.
The plane touched down gently and used most of the runway to come to a stop. No hard braking as normal. When the door opened we could feel all of the -9 degs. Could this be the coldest temperature we have ever experienced? We navigated the metro and arrived at our hotel. We have done well as it is new and has a great vibe to it. Funky and full of young folk, just like us!
We have a room with a great view and nearly top floor. We had a few mulled wines, well Jac did, and a cheap feed from a cafe next door of curried sausages and chips. From the little we have seen the food in Germany looks great. Can't wait to experience more.
Jac's not feeling great so she is now tucked up in bed. I was going to wander to a famous market but would have to go through Tiergarten, a really big park. It's probably not the smartest idea by myself at night though. So I will head over to the main train station, which is like a shopping mall, just opposite the hotel. I'll have a look and fill in an hour or so.
We are heading off on a tour in the morning hopefully. I've always wanted to see Berlin and am really looking forward to having a look around and a play in the snow. Jac can't wait for a snowball to the head either.

Jo I bet she's dreaming of that right now...
Margaret Welcome to snowy europe - you will be well aclimatised by the time you return to the uk. Enjoy your snowball fight.....lol
Chrissy we're getting snow here too - but only at some of the ski resorts!! LOL!! Hmmm, snowball to the head.....not what every girl hopes for!! Ads and I were watching a program the other day on Scotland and reckon when you get there, you should go over to the west coast and visit this tiny place called Applecross - probably better as it gets towards summer though! It was just stunning!! Have fun in the snow! x
jill pantlin Just watch out that Jac isn't a good shot. lol.
Jayne Smith Hope you enjoyed the snow- good job you bought thermals in the UK Dan!! When you return to UK Jac I can give you a name of an agency to join up with, to earn some of that much needed cash. X
