Lets take this gig global!!
Sawidee peeps! Well after a gruelling 40 hrs of buses we finally made it to the south of Thailand. The last stint from Bangkok was a mission and probs the worst journey of the whole trip so far! I got the back seat in the corner, where it was absolutely roasting hot with hardly any air-con and I had an absolute beast of a sweede next to me who basically flattened me every time he fell asleep!! There were also the odd c'roaches runnning in and out of the cracks next to my head aswell so all in all it didnt bode well for a pleasant journey!! But anyway enough moaning and groaning as we made it here in the end and it was defo worth it! We spent the first day in a smallish resort of Kata in the Phuket province but it was mainly older couples and an average beach so after recharging our batteries we left the next day and are now in Koh Phi Phi. The boat trip over here was nice and after consulting our 'bible' we headed straight for Long Beach which is really nice and quiet with clear waters at bath water temperatures!! The snorkelling is fantastic even just 2 metres off shore you can see loads of colourful fish and that. We are gonna try and do a boat trip one day soon out and around the island so that should be even better! Speaking of islands if any of you have seen "The Beach" with Leo and his crew then thats where we are, as it was mostly filmed in Phi Phi. The island they go to is actually Phi Phi Leh which is uninhabited and only reached to by boat so we wil be checking that out on our trip soon! We are also staying on a massive hill at one end of the beach with the most stuning view ever! Looking right over the bay and down at the crystal blue water, its pretty special! The view from our hut balcony is directly over the sea and straight out to Phi Phi Leh so its pretty sweet having a chilled beer everynight watching the sunset behind "The Beach"!! We also met up with Paul the guy we met in Cambodia as he is (coincidently) staying on Long beach too which is cool. I have come over to the main town this morning (not too nice I'm afraid) to write this and try and get the old barnet cut as its getting out of control at the mo!! Then this arvo we are gonna hike over the hill to a deserted beach on the east sid of the island so that should be good (so long as my ankle holds up!). Its raosting here (must be around mid 30s) but a little cloudy at the mo but still catching those UVs so cant complain! Anyways, hope all is good back in mighty blighty. Take it easy, Dan. PS- its my birthday tomo so that should be a goodn' too!! I'll keep you posted on any crazy antics!
