Lets take this gig global!!
Alright guys,
hello all the way from a sunny (and very sweaty!) Bangkok. I'm gonna try and keep this brief as I've got the hangover from hell right now! It was steves Bday last night so we celebrated Bagkok styleee! Started off by going to watch the Thai boxing which was cool then onto the infamous Patpong area to check out what all the fuss is about! we ended up meeting two Irish girls and went to one of the strip/sex shows which was ....er.....an experience, lets put it that way!! We started drinking at 6pm and finished up at 5am so not feeling too sharp today! Got a 12 bus trip later to Chang Mai aswell....mmm.....great!!
Well apart from that we've had an awesome 4 days in Bangkok. The city has pleasantly surprised me too as I thought it would be a lot more busy, hectic, dirty and seedy but its not at all. We are staying in the legendary Khao San area which is fine, stuffs a little more pricey round here but you kinda expect that.
We arrived late on Saturday so pretty much hit the sack early after lugging our stufff around for about an hour trying to find a guesthouse which had a room free! On Sunday we changed places (the first one wasnt the best and really noisy) and found a little gem called Bain Sa or something like that in the Rambutri village area which is cool. We also checked out the famous Chatawak (think thats what its called at least) market which was quaity. Its the biggest market in Asia so as you can imagine its MAHOUSSIVE!! Its only open on weekends too so we were fairly lucky to make it. We met a couple of sweedish girls here in Bangkok too who were really sound so went out for drinks with them on Sunday evening. Good fun all round!
Monday was a more chilled day just staying around Khao San but we did make it out to the CBD area of Silom to change our flights out from Bangkok. We now have a month in Thailand....wahoo...bring it on!!
Yesterday we did the old sightseeing stuff and visited the grand Palace which was really impressive! Defo ranks number 1 on the 'bling' factor so far as temples and buildings go. Saw a couple of Wats aswell and checked out Chinatown which was cool. Defo a step up from Chinatown in Singapore, I've never seen so many different types of food in one place!! A culinary feast for the eyes! Needless to say we dived straight in and tried untold amounts of stuff!!
So yeah, like I said headed out last night for a biggun and really feeling the effects today! we met a ton of people tho and even tho my memory is a little patchy it was a quality night . One of the biggest and best so far and one to remember for all sorts of reasons!!
Like I said, We are catching the bus upto Chang Mai tonight and planning to spend about a week there I think so I will email soon with more news.
Right now I'm gonna go and curl up and die!!
Laters peeps,
Dan
