Lets take this gig global!!
Well once again the crap internet connection has failed me again so I have had to come somewhere else to re-write this update! Its soooo annoying! ANYWAY, deep breaths......
Well we arrived in Udaipur ok after a long old 14 hr bus ride. It was a mixed journey for us as I found it fine and snugged up in my little sleeper (little den) and chilled to music and managed to sleep a lot of the way however it was a nightmare for steve who did his back in (being so tall in a small sleeper) and neither him or the girls got much sleep so they were all a little tired and grumpy when we arrived at 5am!!. I was my usual chirpy self but played it down a little and got a couple more hours kip when we got to our hotel.
Once again we\'ve been super lucky and our room is fine with 24/7 hot water and as is becoming the standard for India, the roof top view is immense! We are staying at the Lal Gaht guest house, located, unsurprisingly, on the lal ghats of Lake Pitchola. We are right next to the lake near the palace in the middle and to giver you an idea of how sweet it is, there is a top 4* hotel two buildings down and we have the same (if not better) view of the lake for only 2 quid a night! Quality! We\'ve met lots of other backpackers here too (including a couple of sweedish girls- lads!!) and its generally got a really cool, chilled out vibe- a bit like Udaipur I guess.
The white city is pretty nice and yesterday we got up and hit the City palace which was more of a museum really but good nonetheless. In the arvo we took a wander thru the streets and bazaars and took it all in. Its nice to just walk around and not get any hassle. We had a stonking meal last night overlooking the lake and there was a fireworks display too which crowned off the night nicely!
Today we went to a northern lake called Fateh Sagar and hired pedal boats to explore which was good fun. The landscape is awesome with huge lakes abd palaces in the middle with tropical gardens and all nice white buildings on the lake edge with massive rolling hills encircling it all around in the background. It absolutely boiling here tho so after half an hour pedling it was all a bit hot and sweaty!
After we did nt fancy any other sightseeing stuff as we are all a little templed out so we just chilled and caught up on our diaries in a little quaint park on the lakeside.
So Udaipur is a nice place with a lot to offer butr we have spent most of the time on roof tops chilling in the sun, catching some UVs and taking in the breathtaking views. In fact thats where I am now, chilling with a pepsi , with the sun on my face, watching the lake glisten with little chipmunks running around nmy feet!! God, I love this travel bug!
We;\'ve also been eating loads too as we have found some of the best restaurants here aswell|!!
Well better love ya and leave ya as the sun is starting to shade me out! We have a gruelling 16 hr bus ride to Mumbai tomo then another 14 hr minimum train ride to Goa so you may not here from me for a few days. I\'ll try and write some more personal emails when I\'ve got more time on my hands in Goa.
We\'ve been given some good beach recommendations by travellers here so really pumped for it now!
I cant believe we\'ve been here for two weeks already- it feels more like two months we\'ve done so much!!
Anyways, all the best
Dan
