Lets take this gig global!!
Right, now that the journals are upto date Im afraid that Ive got some bad news. My trip has taken a slight turn for the worse as I have had to cut my time in the states and Canada short.
Basically beacuse I have extended my time in pretty much every country I have been to I have been away longer than planned and my travel insurance has now expired. Unfortunately this is a BIG problem in the US and I have tried everything possible to renew it but it just doesnt seem possible. This is the main reason but my money is really getting low now aswell and the US is not cheap at all so its probs the best thing to call it a day and head home. I am flying to NYC tomorrow for just a few days before I finally face the moment I have been dreading - handing over that last ticket and steeping on a plane bound for Blighty!!
To be fair though, its not that bad really as I am not liking America all that much anyway. I have revelled in every single place I have been to so far - except here. America just doesnt do it for me. Im not sure exactly why, a combination of stuff I guess. For starters its expensive and really isnt set up for budget travellers like myself. Places are difficult to get around and hostels are full of weirdos instead of fellow travellers. im just glad that I have been travelling with the guys i met in the Cooks as if I was on my own I think I would have gone crazy by now!!
America for me is full of highs and lows, positves and negatives, contradictions and irony. Its defo not a place I would like to live. Some people we have met are really sound and friendly but the majority have either been stressed, ignorant or rude. You see every stereotype you can imagine on an hourly basis and the amount of bums is unbelievable. To have so many in supposedly the richest, most developed country in the world is just crazy.
Loads of other stuff grates me aswell. The accent, the poor sense of humour, the unhealthy eating culture which inevitably means loads of overweight people around. Did you know that there are over 46 MILLION obese people in trhe US alone?? 46 MILLION!!!!! and thats obese not just overweight. The WHO also had to create a special category of 'Super obese' just for America and guess how many Super obese people there are? Try over 6 million!!!! Unbelievable.
You see people waiting 10 minutes for a bus just to go two blocks which you could quite easily walk in 5 minutes if you werent so lazy!! Last night on Alcatraz they had a small bus type thing accompanying the walking tour. designed for disabled people, it was full of fatties who were so big that they couldnt walk 500 yards up a hill. But the worst thing was that they were all sat there with bucket size Cokes and mahoussive bags of crisps!!!!!! Ridiculous!! Only in America hey!
Anyways, sorry about that rant but it really gets me fired up! I shouldnt knock it too much as there are alot of great things here aswell its just that the bad stuff really seems to tarnish the good unfortunately.
Right, so anyways, I will be home to see you all sooner than I expected. Probs around wed/thurs next week. Get the celebrations ready!
Im off to calm down now.........
See you all soon folks
