We left Vegas early for our drive to the Grand Canyon. We stopped at a little diner near the Grand Canyon Skywalk for a cooked breakfast. It was already hot and windy but Damien enjoyed his eggs and I enjoyed my coffee!
We arrived at the Grand Canyon in the early afternoon and set up camp. The camp site was really pretty; surrounded by trees, and very quiet. The tent went up quickly and without any dramas or arguments!
Lucky for us, the facilities at the Grand Canyon are excellent, including a well stocked store for all of our grocery and hiking needs. We had lunch and bought some provisions. Then we headed to the Canyon itself.
Essentially the Grand Canyon is a very big hole. But what a hole! Photos and words just don't do it justice. Every angle you view it from, and every time of day you view it from brings something different, we can never get sick of looking at it.
We watched the sunset that night over the Canyon. It was funny to hear the crowd applaud when the sun finally dipped under the horizon but it was pretty amazing to see the colours of the Canyon change.
We cooked steak over a fire that night which was very tasty and had an early night; Nadia's first ever night in a tent!
