09th October 2009:
After some crazy missions to get to the airport, we checked in our very compact backpacks (very proud of our packing) and rushed ourselves to the departures lounge for a very much needed glass of champers! start as we mean to go on.. ;-) Flights were fine, landed in the heat of Mumbai on 10/10/09 having watched 3 films, drank 3 martinis and having absolutely no sleep! Not too many freshies on the plane (phew!)
10th October 2009:
We get picked up at the airport by my new India brother Kuldeep (who also has a sister called Daljeet) and was wanting to get hooked up with an English wife (no we did not exchange biodata!) Three and a half hours later we arrive at the suba palace hotel in Colaba, and have our welcome meeting. After an hour, and a couple of vodka and red bulls we are dolled up and making a return journey back to Juhu for a night out! (still no sleep at this point!). Pravir and Sharon took us out on the town and we saw plenty of mumbai hotties - ladies this is where they are hiding!! seriously! Visited bonoba bar, Aurus (thanks thomas), and a local club (we don't know the name) but it was jam packed! It was full of the cool young things of Mumbai and it felt like we were on a night out in London. The night was still young so we headed over to the Taj Lands End for early morning munchies - lovely. Made it back to the hotel, and had 4 hours sleep before our tour started the next morning...
11th October 2009:
Forced ourselves out of bed after lack of sleep, and Dal was feeling the pain of the night before! Early start to Gateway of India, and what was supposed to be an hours boat ride to elephanta island..but took forever and was full of freshies taking our pictures non too discretely and unnecessary leg poses, eugh... landed at elephanta island and endured 100 steps in the seering heat up to the caves holding on to our belongings so the monkeys didnt get them! Saw a few carvings, heard a few stories and stopped at the corn on the cob stall on the way back. Oooo the next bit was definitely the highlight - the Taj Hotel for high tea don't you know, what what. This was more like it! After all the excitement of the day, we felt we deserved an hours nap which turned into a 3 hour sleep! Got up and hit the Colaba Causeway for some retail therapy and bought some bangles and flip flops. Ate some Labenese food (weren't too impressed) and the mean man wouldnt serve us indian tea. Headed back to the hotel for some more sleep..

Eugh the stinky sasoon docks where the local fishing trade takes place. The smell was undescribable and followed us all the way to Chennai! I dont think everyone else on the flight was thanking us!
