The next part of our tour meant an early start to Kumbakonan (Tanjore), but we wanted to stop off in Pondicherry on our way there. A very french influenced town, full of charm and interesting architecture.
Dally G and Trushanti walked along the Promenade in the blazing sun and 36 degree heat! Feeling delirious we were followed by a very persistant little boy trying to sell us beautiful bags, handily suitable for the camcorder we were carrying. Unfortunately for him, we did not buy one, but it was funny just to have him run after us shouting 'Madam, madam, madam!'.
At this point Trushanti was feeling rather peckish, and lo and behold what should i see!?? But a Banana stall, thank god! Here i purchased the yummy and sweet teeeny weeeny bananas, and ate about 5 in one go! We then walked into the town and looked around all the many shops and stalls, selling their wares.
Dally G's eye was caught by the most loveliest suit in the whole wide world, and it only cost 350 Rupees! Shopping is so much fun in India, especially bargains can be found for so little, and you can look amazing too!
With all the shopping and the boiling hot weather, we walked endlessly around the town back to the Promenade to Le Cafe to meet our fellow travellers. Here we experienced a brand new Heaven......Banana Lassi! hmmm hmmm hmmmmmmm. Sitting looking out across the beach, with the hot breeze sweeping the sweaty hair from our faces, we sipped on this nectar of the gods and comtemplated how our lives had just got that little bit better! Wish you were all here with us?!
Jumped back into the van to continue onwards to Kumbakonam and we arrived at out Hotel at Paradise Resorts. Greeted yet againg with garlands and Coconut milk. Getting used to being treated like a Queen... this comfort tour is well good, innit!
As we walked the 10 miles to our rooms, through gardens, lakes, pools, and the masses of chickens and geese all clucking away, we entered our very lovely hotel room. But no this wasnt the only thing that was so great about this room, it had the most hugest, massiveness and expansive bathroom ever! Think Wembley stadium but with a bath in it! And every morning we would be woken up by the damn cockerell at 6am! Shame he wasnt on the menu.
After a short freshen up, we headed off to the Temples of Kumbakonam. All very interesting, especially as there was a pundit with a sticking out belly posing for the tourists.
