Well we left Port Maquarie at 9am and travelled the Pacific Hwy through Coffs Harbour, we didn't stop at the Big Banana as there was no where to safely pull over. We continued on up the highway for another 20 mins and stopped for lunch in a rest area. Love having our own toilet on these occasions as the drop toilet could be smelled for miles. Pooh. Any way we decided we should have enough fuel to get to Ballina..... Ah Not. We just made it to Woodburn about 40 kms south of Ballina. We were deciding who would hitch hike into town if we actually broke down.. So I think we'll buy a jerry can and take extra fuel from now on as you can't predict how much fuel you'll use when you don't know the terrain. Lesson learned. That was a close one. So around 3pm we finally arrived in Ballina. We were greeted by the big Prawn. It's huge!!. And booked into the Lakeside Caravan Park. This park is very similar to Nambucca Heads White Albatross, with modern and clean facilities, great activities for kids and backs into the Shaws Bay. They say it was only 31 degrees but it felt more like 36, so. We decided to go for a swim in the bay. It was like a warm bath but flat and easy swimming. Was quite enjoyable. We took a quick stroll up the break wall , it was still 36 degrees at 5pm, so we decided to drive to Lennox Head, in the air con. This is a very small surfing town with narrow streets and was packed to the rafters with holiday goers. Glad we didn't stay there. We started to get a bit hungry so back to the van for dinner and shower. Having an early night for our next leg to the Gold Coast tomorrow. I recommend Ballina as a destination for holidays, but be prepared for the heat. See ya later.

Lisa Awesome Cindy sounds like you are having a great adventure! Ballina is beautiful.
Susan Not far from our old stomping ground. We often popped over to Ballina or Lennox for the day. Neil says " imagine how hot Casino would be, if it's 36 in Ballina". Sounds like all is going well. Did you call into Yamba or Evans Head?? Beautiful coastal towns. Safe travelling guys, sounds awesome
