WoW.
yesterday was truly busy!
Matt and I paid 800B a person($24) and this is what we did!
First we were taken on a one hour walk to the Hmong tribe. We had to climb a fricken mountain! Then again, their version of a mountain doesn't compare to the Rockies! To get there we had to cross a rickety bamboo bridge. Just look at the videos to understand.
In the Hmong villiage, i bought Della's Christmas present. And we took pictures with some lady and her kid. The little girl kept clinging to both of us. It was so cute. MAtt and I both took turns shooting a crossbow.
In the end, it was I who would be named the Tribes Hunter!!
The Hmong people wear black and dark blue for clothing. I couldn't imagine it in that weather!
Then we took a 10 minute drive to an Elephant Camp. There we took a one hour elephant ride around the area. Parts of the ride were scary and we were holding on for our lives! There were no seat belts and that was one thing Matt really wanted!
We then stopped for lunch at this small resturant. This lunch was also included in the day trek and it was amazing. Most people want you to eat every bite of your meal, but not Thai people. The more you eat, the more the make. It is a never ending meal.
From there we went to the Karen Tribe. The main difference between people in this tribe is the clothes you wear. Women who were single had to wear white and only white. When you get married you live with your husband and children... bare lots of them! Your grandparents live next door and your parents also live with you. ewwww... :P
Matt chased a rooster!
We then went to a waterfall. Its name eludes me but there is a pic of it coming up! Matt made it across the rapids with ease. I on the other hand, got caught by the current and I honestly could've died. If i hadn't grabbed the bridge, i would've been swept into the sharp huge rocks on the other side of the bridge. Luckily if you've watched the videos, its a good thing i was born year of the snake! Luck up the waa-hoo! I found another route and i made it to the waterfall. There is only a pic of matt though cuz one person needed to take the pic!
Our last event was bamboo rafting. We went on a one hour cruise around this little area. Some parts were scary and Toby (the Swiss participant) was our other driver. The driver needed one volunteer to steer the back and Toby stepped up to the plate. Throughout the ride it was Toby's job to make sure the back didn't hit anything. It was quite amusing. The driver kept trying to splash us. :P We watched as the other volunteer from another trek group fell. Toby saved his falling until the very end. When we were pulling in, we hit a rock and toby's bamboo stick went down the current, while Toby luckily stayed with us!
After all that jazz, we went home. We took a nice hott shower and then we went to bed. Matt and I tried a werid combo that we made out of the food we had packed. We put pork rice porridge, macaroni, and tuna in our pot. It was very nasty... but matt liked it. I had the first meal replacement bar. It was nice and tasty.. but we're confused. It says a great source of Vitamin D. Wheres the sun in that?
Anyhoo... Today and tomorrow are days of rest and then we have another activity planned. Tomorrow we move to another Guesthouse for cheaper. Parents... we are sending home a little something something. Don't know when it will get to you.. But we're sending it soon.
Anyhoo, we're paying 20B an hour to be on the comp. Thats like not even a dollar man... sweet! :P
