THE ONE WITH THE WILLY WONKA OF ALL BEER FACTORIES
May it be put to record that we ALL were up before the sun... 6:45am, bright and early the apt was a buzz as we had breakfast and got ready for the day. After a few errands, most important of which was a coffee for Chris :), we met with Leslie and headed to Red Rocks Park. The rock formations were amazing and were like nothing we had ever seen before. No manmade structure could replicate the awesomeness of what we saw, aka it was siiiiiickkkkkkk. After climbing more than two hundred stairs (at least) our breath was taken away by both the view of Denver... and by the exercise! The amphitheatre on site has played host to an array of top artists from the Beatles to the Eagles, all of which we learned about as we toured the 'Rock' hall of fame and learned about the history of the park. Elly May(Amanda) enjoyed the climbing the rocks, though it would have been priceless if she was in a dress like when she was seven.
From there we continued our exploration of the foothills and landed in Golden, Colorado, home of the largest beer brewery in the world - The Coor's Brewery. As we waited for the buses to take us inside the gates of the factory, images of Willy Wonka and the Chocolae Factory flashed through our minds. It was like we had found a golden ticket in a case of Coor's... Inside the factory we were given individual headsets which allowed us to guide ourselves through the factory. The aromas of beer brewing were enticing us further along our tour and deeper into the world of Coors. Though we did not come across any waterfalls of beer or trees of pretels, the beer flowed quite freely from the taps at the sampling stations! Chris took one for the team and forced himself to drink the large sample of Colorado Native. And as we left the factory we were given our Golden Ticket, I repeat GOLDEN TICKET!!! We got one and have a picture to prove it!
Off to Chili's for a supper of burgers, quesadillas, fajitas, or was it fajitas and quesadillas :) and then the film Eagle Eye before bed!
