South Africa
Well we have made it we are in Cape Town South Africa. It has taken us 8 months from leaving the UK to arriving in Cape Town and we have
· Travelled through 20 countries
· Done 35 000 km driving
· Had no punctures
· One small leak in our power steering
· Filled up the car 86 times
· Serviced the car 3 times from setting off
· 5 ferry trips
· Gone through 7 pairs of flip flops
· Had 4 near car accidents but came out unscathed all three of us
· 2 bouts of illness (Terri both times) but nothing serious
· Paid zero bribes
· Had no troubles at border crossings or police check points
· Slept 6 nights in hotels or lodges all others in our roof tent
· Spent far to much money
We are now in Cape Town and trying to sort out importing our car into South Africa which turns out to be not as straight forward as we would have liked. Luckily I have a great friend who lives in Cape Town and so we are staying with her at the moment while we try and sort out the car. In between sorting out the car we are enjoying exploring Cape Town which we love, taking her 2 dogs our for walks, catching up on washing and enjoying a semi normal life out of the car for a short while. The plan is to spend another week or two in Cape Town and then head up the Garden route to Durban and then across to The Drakensberg and eventually Johannesburg where we finish our trip. At the moment our return flights are booked for the 17th of April to London Heathrow but we will see how funds and job commitments go ect.
Hope you are all well out there
