Well here we are! :D
First of all... The background on this photo must be super-imposed. I know it is only winter here still, but I highly doubt the sky would EVER look like that in London.
We have spent the last two days doing a bus sight-seeing tour and it is the best 21 pounds each we have spent so far. (And we would like to point out that it would have been 24 pounds but Averil and Eru so kindly gave us discount vouchers :) ) The bus company - Original Bus Tour are so helpful and actually know what they are talking about.
With out tickets on the tour we also got a free pass on the City River Cruise on the river Thames which we took from the London Eye to the Tower of London. It also includes 3 free walking tours. We went on the "Changing of the Guard" one this morning. More about that later...
On Sunday morning we went to Madame Tussauds which was pretty cool and again, thanks to Averil and Eru we got one free entry (saving us 24 pounds). The rest of the day we pretty much walked around and were so tired by the end of it! We did manage a trip to Harrods but just used the toilet and left. Haha. We are surprised by how easy it is to walk around London - we would have thought it would be a long way between everything.
Yesterday we went on the London Eye and saw some great views of London. It snowed a bit yesterday - and a bit today too - so it has been pretty cold! In the afternoon we went to Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. It was quite interesting and sometimes gross... We conquered the mirror maze in about 2 minutes flat. Fluke, me thinks. We went to Hamleys toy shop and Court got a Paddington Bear keyring and Lynnie got a little Hippo. We even went to the top floor and got a photo at the cafe... ;)
Last night we caught the underground for the first time to Shepherd's Bush to meet up with Lynnie's friend Rodd and had a good "kiwi" burger at GBK - Gourmet Burger Kitchen. We think we must have set a world record for longest time in London (2 days) without taking the underground - but we did manage to "Mind the Gap". The restaurant had the kiwi sauce bottles in the shape of a tomato :) and was supposedly kiwi however the person taking our order couldn't understand us!
This morning we saw the Changing of the Guard. The walking tour we went on was awesome! We went to St James's Palace to see the new Guard assembling for their 48 hour shift. The band played "Dancing Queen" and "Mamma Mia" which we thought was funny. We "marched" with them along the "Queens Driveway" - The Mall, and turned off just before Buckingham Palace to visit Wellington Barracks to see the old Guard getting ready to march to the Palace. There were South African flags flying with the Union Jack flags as Nelson Mandela was meeting with the Queen today. We watched the official proceedings in front of the palace for 10-15 minutes before going to watch two guards change over up close at Prince Charles, William and Harry and Camilla's residence - CLarence House. The tour finished just after 12 and we got back on the bus and went to the river cruise.
We went to the Tower of London and saw the Crown Jewels and a medieval tower which Lynnie loved.
We have booked an afternoon tour for tomorrow to Stonehenge - we are both looking forward to this. When we booked it today the guy said he could tell we were kiwi by the way we said Stonehenge. :)
Will keep you posted!
Love Lynnie and Court xo
