Hello all
We went to Les Miserables on Tuesday 30th March at the Birmingham Hippodrome. It was really good! Lynnie was disappointed that she didn't get to see any hippos.
On Sunday 4th April we left Birmingham for Cardiff, Wales. We were up early and the taxi arrived early so we ended up waiting for almost an hour at the Megabus stop. It was freezing cold. A group of scodie people walked past and one of them picked up a drink someone had left on the fence next to us and drank it. Pretty disgusting...
We enjoyed Cardiff and thought it was a really pretty city. We were lucky to have nice weather for most of the time we were there. We did our usual City Sightseeing tour which we got an extra day free on. Cardiff Castle was a really cool place to visit and we thought the guided tour was quite interesting. The first night that we were in Cardiff we had to stay in a 6 bed mixed dorm and there was a guy who snored REALLY loudly!! It was ridiculous - he woke everyone in the dorm up at about 2am and we didn't sleep much after that. And, of course, he got the best sleep of anyone and was last out of bed in the morning. One guy even went to sleep in the TV room because of it. Luckily the next 2 nights we had a private room and got a lot more sleep.
On Wednesday 7th April we got a train (or 3) from Cardiff to Brighton. It took just over 5 hours to get there but luckily our hostel was only about a 5 minute walk from the train station. I would say that this is about the only good thing about Journey's Brighton. We were only there for 2 nights but couldn't wait to get out of there - which is a shame as we LOVED Brighton and had a relaxing time other than that. The kitchen at the hostel was gross and the long term residents were creepy... Needless to say we ate at Wetherspoons to avoid using the health hazard of a kitchen. We had a good day at Brighton Pier on the Thursday though and the sun was out all day which was lucky. The Brighton Pier was amazing - it had carnival type rides at the end of it and fair ground games. Lynnie won a Pierre Bear for Court :) The atmosphere was fantastic. We sat on deck chairs on the pier for ages and enjoyed the sun. We even had fish and chips on the beach - an awesome day. We would definitely go back to Brighton!
On Friday 9th April we took another 2 trains to Bristol which took around 4 hours. We were staying in a B&B and it was quite nice. We thought it was near the airport but it was AGES away (on the opposite side of the city...) and cost us 45 pounds in a taxi to get there this morning... We didn't do a lot in Bristol but we did do the City Sightseeing tour (this one was crap - but all the others we have done by that company were good). We got a bus up to Cribbs Causeway to have a look around the shops and spent the rest of the time chilling. The people who own the B&B have 4 cats and 2 dogs and they were so cute! We found the buses to be quite expensive in Bristol - 4 pounds each for a day ticket...
We were up at 4am this morning to get our flight to Girona which left Bristol at 6.55am and we arrived into Girona at 9.45am (local time) so it was a nice short flight and Ryanair weren't too bad. We queued for about 1/2 an hour before boarding and got a seat up the front :) When we arrived into Girona we got a bus to Barcelona and it dropped us off at a bus station which happened to be about 5 minutes walk from our hotel. Even though we arrived at about 12pm and check in isn't normally until 3pm we were allowed to check in which was cool. We have already been out to a supermarket and bought lunch which was average and expensive.
Over the next few days we are going to go to Barcelona Zoo and do the City Sightseeing tour. We are meeting Chris and Hayley tomorrow (Tuesday) after work and going out for drinks/dinner.
We are enjoying seeing Europe and can't wait to see more!
Love Lynnie and Court xoxoxoxoxoxo
