Waking up in our hotel after a good rest following our late arrival the night before reminded us of our journey in from the hotel on how modern the whole island appeared especially as you approached the city with it's multitude of skyscrapers all extending it's tentacles into the sky line.
We were picked up in front of the hotel by the tour operator and made our way to their central transport hub where you change into your designated tour, with all the tourists walking around wearing their colour coded tour codes must of looked liken to a cattle Market with all its animals being numbered numbered.
The trip to the zoo went beyond all my expectations as you think once you seen one you've seen them all, this was very different as they use a moat approach to keeping in the animals which gave them a more Natural look.
Some of the highlights from this tour were the arang-utan's breakfast which really surprised me not how close we got the apes but how good the breakfast was - also the feeding the giraffes was wonderful - ice never seen such a long and flexible tong before.
In the afternoon we came back to the hotel showered and changed back into something that would identify us as back packers and off to Raffles we went. On arrival me and clare rushed off to the long bar (see photo) to sneak in a sling drink before Tea (what lushes we are).
I must say along with all our tour guides the one we had at Singapore dud not disappoint she really looked after us to the extent that she made sure with her local contacts that despite a queue that extended around the corner that we were given VIP treatment by being allowed in ahead of everybody else but were shepherd to load up at the buffet.
I really thought it would of been a boring tourist experience here but I was wrong the quality and amount of food was incredible as it ranged from traditional Chinese starters through to a scorns and cream in addition to the dollies towers of sandwiches and cakes.
On our table we got to know a Perth farmer and his wife (a teacher) and their little girl who turned out to be very pleasant, got into some very interesting conversations with them.
The trip also included a a boat trip which finally made up our minds this place was modern and clean and would be very pleasant for any traveller to arrive on it's shores.
