This is a broad description of what I have been doing in Prague. During orientation we made various trips around the city to learn about local activities and tourist sites. It was more of a scavenger hunt than actually stopping a visiting anything for very long. We saw Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, Petrin Hill...all of pictures in the Prague album.
We also visited some local pubs and tried the beer. Like Germany, each area of the country is very proud of their local beer, and mostly only serve their own. The food is suprisingly very good here...they definitely use less preservatives and most food is very fresh. Goulash and dumplings(not the normal ones, but resemble bread) are typical for dinner, but they also commonly serve chicken, pork, and many variations of potatoes.
School has begun but I believe is purposefully designed to allow students free time away from class to travel and experience Prague. In other words, I will have no problem doing well here. One of the first weekends we had "IceBreaking," where we took a bus to Strakonice to visit with other international students and break the ice. Unfortunately, I did more breaking of my foot than ice and I have been on crutches for the last 3 weeks. But, I have still managed to get out and have fun so it is ok and my foot should be better soon.
Besides that, I have watched a hockey game, a soccer match, visited clubs, travelled to tourist areas, and have met many new people. I also visited Munich, Germany and Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic which will be seperate entries.
