The journey from Kaikoura to Wellington was absolutely pants! First we were on the bus (again ..yes) but then we had to catch the interislander ferry which take 3 hours to get from the South Island to the North Island. The ferry journey was so rough I felt so sick even though I had overdosed myself on travelcalm tablets. Pembo being Pembo was starving and decided she was going to buy a huge roast dinner. I was sitting in the conservatory type part of the boat which looked out to sea cos that made me feel so much better. She came out to see me looking a bit pissed off and a little sickly. She had just spent 20 bucks on the roast dinner only to chuck it up 10 minutes later. It was so funny, I almost wet myself laughing. To make us feel better we ended up sitting with a blanker over our knees singing to Tina Turner and the Venga boys on her ipod...we didnt realise how loud we really were! We arrived in Wellington and I had never been so excited for a journey to end.
We arrived at our hostel and the weather was pouring but we bumped into some of the boys that we had said goodbye to in Christchurch as they had decided to stay an extra night. That night we all went out together and had such a laugh until some stupid k*** head of a girl decided to stamp on the top of my foot so hard that I was hobbling about. We went to the loo's to see the damaged and I had my leg up on the sink and Pembo was putting ice on it. We must have looked like complete idiots as we were getting so many dirty looks, it was like being at home, everyone in that place had their heads up their own arses. As I was actually in quite a lot of pain with my foot I decided to go home...
Teh next day we just wandered around Wellington, its a nice little place but considering it's the capital of NZ, there isnt really that much to do there. We went to the best museum though called Te Papa and it was brilliant. Not only was it the best museum ever it was also free. There were various exhibitions including one where you are in a little room and they show you what it's like to be in an earthquake. random but good. There was also an amazing Maouri culture section which was really interesting. The museum was so huge we were there for over 2 hours wandering about.
When we got back to the hostel we found out that the boys had missed their bus so they were there for one more night. We all went out again and had a fab night . Pembo ended the night with 2 Subways..this seems to happen a little too often...
The next few days the weather was a bit crap but we just chilled out laura and I had colds and we didnt want to feel any worse. After this is was onto Taupo...
