It is just under a week until I leave, and I have just been packing which was horrific! No idea what to take as we have been warned that the Costa Ricans are pretty strict about clothing, aka no short skirts or shorts in the city, which is a new one for me! I have also been warned by a friend out there that the weather is pretty grim right now, very hot with constant clouds and thunderstorms. Yey. With the UK weather so good I will probably come back with less of a tan than everyone here.
The exciting news is that I have been told who my family are. They live in Cedros, an area close to the city and a short bus ride from the language school I will be spending a few days at. The father, Rodrigo, is a retired accountant and the mother, Cecilia, is a business woman. They have three children, Esteban who is 24, Daniela who is 19 and Adrian who is the same age as my sister, at 16. I am really glad they have children, particularly two who are so similar in age to me and my sister. Should be great fun.
The plan is that I am going to stay at my boyfriend's house in Heathrow on Friday & Saturday night because I have a very early flight out of Gatwick on Sunday morning. I am flying to New York and then transferring across to San Jose city, with Continental and Taca airlines. An epic journey of something like 18 hours which will certainly be the longest I have ever done.
I also have the names of the 10 girls and 1 boy who I will be volunteering with out there. I am a combination of amazingly excited and slightly terrified, mainly by the thought of constant rice and beans for 5 weeks!
My next blog will be when I am actually out there, living the Pura Vida!!!
