Sat. 6pm
Had a very relaxing day, wer are able to use a posh hotel's outdoor, salt swimming poo and loungers for 5$ a day - it was so relaxing and like adifferent world for a few hours and the RAINS came with avengeance. For about 3 hours it was torrential, the roads flooded to about knee depth, so we decided to abandon our bikes and get a tuk tuk back. That was entertaining as it came up through the bottom and the motor bikes struggled to pull their loads through all the flood water.
A good week at school, but with all the heat and effort required by last night I was absolutely exhausted and had to retire after dinner. We found a great eating place and a khymer veg curry and beer cost me under £1.50
The broadband here is very poor and at the moment it will not let me upload photos on to this site so I must go elsewhere and try.
It is good to see the water level in the river rising, as I'm sure it must have been causing so many illnesses and diseases for the people living along it.
After the rain the journey to school becomes more perilous, the ruts deeper and the weaving around them complicated as you may be meeting someone. Have still not fallen off, or suffered a puncture/chain off, but I'm sure one is waiting for.
I HAD TO MOVE ROOMS THE OTHER NIGHT BECAUSE WHEN I WENT IN THE WHOLE OF THE BED WAS COVERED WITH JUMPING FLEAS AND BED BUGS - I TRIED TO KILL THEM OFF BUT SOON REALISED THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE SO HAD TO GET THE STAFF AND THEY MOVED ME! EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER ROOM WAS OK I STRUGGLED TO SLEEP. ALL WELL NOW AND I LIKE THAT ROOMN BETTER! DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY CAME FROM AS ROOM HAD BEEN CLEAR BEFORE.
I may have taken them home from school as all the children are covered in a variety and of course washing is limited as are clean clothes.
Next weekend I am going with Lindy to visit a friend of hers who has a school and orphanage near Phnom Penh next weekend an opportunity to see more of Cambodia and experience local transport.
Another English girl has joined us, she is here 3 weeks before she goes back to Oxford for her second year.
There are some beautiful blossoms about, but it is the wrong season, but the orange earth and some painted buildings take away the drabness.
Far too much water about to out for dinner, so we'll pool what we have and cook in the minute kitchen with one ring only.
Enjoy your weekend, will need to spend some of Sun planning and preparing work!

Marg This would make a good film Jenny!!!
Elaine Morley Dear Jenny Oh my God - the bedbugs!! My sensitivity to that expression 'Don't let the bedbugs bite' is sharpened. We always use it, and yet for our lives now, here, it is completely obsolete. Love E xx
