The whole day was spent in Kiskunsag National Park looking for a few species we have missed elsewhere, or that should be found here. The operative word is "should". As much as we have enjoyed clear skies and warm temps, the heat has made some birds more scarce. We got some nice views this morning, some around the grounds of the hotel while being observed by their herd of horses. But by noon, the sun was hot. Mosquitoes and flies were abundant guests at our picnic lunch. However there were plenty of Bee-eaters, eye candy with their bright colors, a challenge to watch or photograph as they don't sit still for long.
A good close fly-by of an Imperial Eagle, as well as one sitting on a nest. Giant Bustards tried to stay cool while sitting in tall grass, only a couple of heads peeking out. We spent much of the afternoon driving around scanning fields, admiring all the wildflowers in bloom, but not finding much of anything except a number of deer and European Hares.
We had better luck after dinner. Before too long of a wait in a field after dusk, we had a close fly-by of an Eurasian Nightjar to close out the day.

Tracey Well I am sorry that the warmer weather is making Birding less plentiful and the mosquitos abundant hopefully the trip is still wonderful. Never even heard of the towns and Parks you are exploring. Do you have to worry about west nile virus, or lymes there...or something equally icky? Have a great time, you two are the most adventurous individuals ever...I know, I know...this is TAME comparitively. Just rambling because I'm thinking about all the wonderful places you've been already!!
