I'm loving Tampa!
Where Ash stays is a gorgeous residential area and the people are unbelievably friendly. It's like the protocall to say 'Hey, How are you?' to everyone and anyone.
Over the last week it has been blissfully relaxing. Loads of chilling out by the pool and reading in the sun.
In the first few days Olly and I took a 'stroll' explore. That plan kind of back fired because an hour later after dicing with death and sweating 'like a w**** in church' as Ash would say, we wer still on the highway. Haha. A few funny things happened on the way... First we got a plastic bottle thrown at us (always a pleasure) from an oncoming car. Then a car full of guys, driving a pimp-mobile cruised past us and pressed a button in their car and the car whistled at us! haha. Like an electronic horn that blasts out 'wit woo' at innocent passers-by (Olly and I!) Then we came across the most hilarious sign (that can be seen in the photo above) with MOM WANTS CAKE written on. (It was mothers day over here last sunday)
On Sunday night we headed down to Ybor, to watch 'Uh Huh Her' perform at The Orpheum. The band was fantastic and drew in a huge lesbian crowd, due to Leisha Hayley (one of the band members) being one of the cast of The L Word. We met Ash's friend Dan, who is lovely and hilarious. After the gig we went to I-Hop (International House of Pancakes) and devoured some gorgeous fruit filled buttermilk pancakes. Heather, our server, baffled us both by asking 'Do you want a side of Bacon with that?' Must be an American thing.
On Monday Olly, Ash and I went to Channelside, which is in the mansion/harbour area of Tampa and watched 'What Happens in Vegas' at the movies. The film was hilarious, much better than I had expected. Channelside is a gorgeous area with bars and resturants in a big open air court.
Ash has been working a lot (poor Ash : () So Olly and I have found ways to amuse ourselves...our new favourite is 'The Bad Ass Linkage Game' in which we each name a celebrity and you have to make a chain to link the two together. On Tuesday night Olly, Ash and I played it for 5 hours, getting ultra competitive and placing a $15 prize for the first to reach 50points...good times. The evenings here are spent chillaxing with either America's Next Top Model (a poor finale, Anya SO should have won), Gossip Girl, Sex and The City and making our way through Ben and Jerrys or a huge bottle of wine.
Yesterday we drove about an hour away to an Outlet called Ellington (it's like a much better version of Cheshire Oaks) and hit up the majorly discounted clothes and shoes. I dropped $140 on the most gorgeous pair of Saks 5th Avenue stilleto's after a long and hard internal struggle on wether or not to buy them...you only live once. Olly got 2 great pairs of Lucky jeans, and the salesman in Lucky was incredibly good-looking! So all in all it was a fun trip.
Olly, Ash and I are doing a photoshoot tonight in our new purchases so I will upload the new pic soon.
Ta ta for now x
