Rob and Jen bumming round the world for a bit
Hello all,
In Byron Bay at the mo, a little place on the beach, just over the Queensland border in New South Wales. We're now 11 hours ahead of you guys 'cus NSW operate daylight savings time, whereas Queensland doesn't, something to do with cows apparently.
Since my last update, we've spent a fair few days in Brisbane, a couple of days in Surfers Paradise and now we're having a few days in Byron Bay.
The sun has recently returned to our lives, after a week or so of rain. The poor weather wasn't really an issue in Brisbane, there was plenty to do otherwise. We visited thre Queensland Museum, the Castlemaine Brewery, which was really good, and painted our own boomerangs, something which should turn out to be an excellent souvenier. Mine was so good infact, i think i might start my own boomerang painting business.
Surfers Paradise was something of a washout. It rained for the 2 days we were there, reducing our activities down to going to the pub and playing crazy golf. Considering Surfers is the Australian equivalent of Blackpool, we probably did the right things to get a feel for the place!
Byron seems like a nice place, just a Beach/Surfing town, with a decent nightlife. To be fair though, despite the fact that it's been raining for a week, i've had about enough of the beach. 4 or 5 times in one summer is abaout my limit, though i think my patience was finished off on Fraser Island, there's only so many nights you can put up with sand in your bed...and your pants. Looking forward to getting to Sydney and Melbourne now. Especially Melbourne, as we've got ourselves some tickets to the Commonwealth Games, the penultimate day of the athletics to be precise, so we'll see a few finals and hopfully a few Golds for England!
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
