Krabi, Phi Phi and Phuket
Whilst in the scuab dive centre in Koh Tao some woman tried to steal my Havaianas and swap them for fake ones. I wasn't having any of it though. I'm still not over the ordeal!
Koh Tao was absolutely awesome. I loved it.
So, the night boat (10.01.11) was an experience (to say the least) that I wouldn't want to endure again any time soon...or ever again actually!
We got the taxi to the boat port from our resort. We had been jammed into pick up trucks before but this took the joke 'how many clowns can you fit into a mini' to a whole new level! It was funny, there were 12 of us in the back of the truck....plus everyone's rucksacks! Rather cosey. Was a laugh though.
We got to the port and boarded the "night boat" I wasn't best pleased! The night boat had 2 decks, we were on the top deck which consisted of 2 giant matresses (mats) along each side...to accommodate 70 people. LOL! It wasn't too bad really, we were just packed in like sardines. This meant we had to lay very still. It was a bit of a problem for me as I can't sit/lie still very long. On a positive note, I saw a fire extinguisher! The first one I'd seen since being in Thailand...I was very happy! However, I noticed that there wasn't enough life jackets for everyone. I would say that there was 1 for every 4 or maybe 5 people. Only in Thailand! Even though I'm travelling and I'm chilled out my risk assessment and emergency management forte (some may say obsession) hasn't escaped me!
The night boat was a 10 hour journey, I probably slept about 2 hours of that. Thank f*** for my Ipod! :)
After the night boar ordeal and a 3 hour coach journey we arrived in Krabi. Krabi isn't worth talking about really...don't go there! There is nothing to do! We stayed there for 1 night and then moved on to Phi Phi Island!
12.1.11
We arrived in Phi Phi at about lunch time and OMG it was HOT!! We found a place to stay then headed to the beach. Phi Phi was very different to the other places we had been. It's absolutely rammed with tourists, but there are no cars, pick up trucks or scooters. Instead, lot of people and bycyles. The beach was beautiful, probably the best beach I've been to and the clear, blue sea was warm :) bloody lovely! In the evening we did what we do best....eat, drink and shop! I bought my orange disco watch! The new love of my life (the first being my Mio Fino moped in Phangan.) I loved it so much I bought another one later but in pink, as I knew it would break!
Later in the evening we came across a FISH SPA! I was so excited, I always wanted to have my toes sucked by fish! It was awesome. Firstly, a poor Thai girl scrubbed my legs and feet which was nice, then we put our legs into the spa. It was WEIRD! It took me a while to decide whether I like it or not.....I did like it, but every now and then it would get a bit too much! Overall, a brillaint day and evening :)
13.12.11- Island Hopping
Our Sunset boat trip started at 10am. I had a lovely continental breakfast before hand and my favourite, Lipton Tea....cannot get enough of it! We then boarded the boat and waited about an hour (brilliant) before leaving the dock! It was soooo hot! We finally set sail! YEYYYYY HAAAAAAA! We sunbathed on the deck which was nice as there was a cool breeze...there were some annoying Spanish girls. The first stop was Bamboo beach. It was a pretty nice beach...we jumped off the boat for a spot of snorkelling. It was a really good place to snorkel, we stayed for about an hour. Next stop, Mosquito beach! I know, it sounds pleasant. I wasn't expecting anything amazing but it was actually awesome! The best snorkelling site I've been to....so far. LOVES IT. A baby Parrot Fish came right up to my face and stared me in the eyes..it was so cute! We also saw Puffa Fish, A Sea Star, an Eel, a Sphere Fish...and I can't remember the rest! I've slept seveal times since!
After some delicious lunch we stopped off at monkey Beach. This was FUN! Although, we only saw 1 monkey! We (me, Rosie and Amy) kayaked to shore. I felt cool ;) It was a really nice beach and we saw a guy from 'The only way is Esses'....not that I watch that crap....how funny (for you Sasha). On the boat again! We went past the "Viking Cave" and the tour guy told us that we couldn't go in and that the Vikings came 1,000 years ago....(thats right...all the way from Norway!) to paint a Viking s*** on to top of the cave. These guys think us English are dumb tourists...I wonder what gives them that impression?! I reckon the Thai's painted it a few weeks ago!
The final stop was Maya Beach where the film The Beach was filmed. It was a mission to get to. We had to pull ourselves along a rope through a treacherous current to get to the beach...was dangerous. Not quite sure if it was worth it! I got stuck on a rock at one point...it was scary but I couldn't stop laughing. Amy then got stuck on the rock...b****** rock number 2!
Even though I'd been obsessivley putting sun cream on every half an hour, I still got burnt (what would Grandma say?!) on my face and back...bad times. I was naughty and didn't use sun block. I foolishly assumed factor 30 would be sufficient. I'm hoping my phototherapy treatment worked and my skin doesn't go dodgy! Note to self: USE THE SUN BLOCK!! You live and you learn!
Off to Chang Mai now :)
