Eco Nature Tour
The Eco Nature Tour is one hell of a day out! If you want to do several activities in one day then this is just the ticket!
We got picked up from our hotel in the morning. Of course, we got jammed into the back of a pick up truck. Just getting a taxi here is like knock knock knocking on heaven's door! Very fun though, I wouldn't have it any other way!
First stop....elephant tekking! Which I was very excited about.....until i got put on the neck of the elephant at the front!! I have to say I was pooing my pants!! It was pretty awesome though. We were at the front and our elephant had a bad attitude problem!! I don't blame it really. With me sitting on its neck and Tom and Rose sitting on a bench on its back, I would too play up! Our elephant was a 45 year old female, we named her Barney....no wonder she was cross! After the elephant treck we held a baby crocodile that weighed about 20kg. I felt like Steve Irwin until I realised it's mouthed was tapped closed....not so tough now!
Next, I held a one year old monkey!! I was a bit over excited when I saw him....he was gorgeous. The next part of the tour was a bit strange. We were all sat down to watch a crocodile show. It was interesting.....I'm pretty sure those crocodiles were in some sort of coma. The crazy man was hitting them in the head with a stick and dragging them around. He opened up one of the crocodile's mouths and put his head in......that's entertainment!
We then went to the "Than Sadet Waterfall".......apparently it's the swimming pool of The King Rama 5. I'm not quite sure how much of what the tour guides told us was actually true! None the less, it was absolutely beautiful. It was bit of a treck walking up to the top of the waterfall.....actually, it was a mission!! But well worth it! When we got to the top we went swimming in the waterfall, nice and refreshing after the walk up. It was fresh, so fresh! The view from the top was stunning. truely breathtaking. Splashed about in the waterfall for a bit then trekked back down again. Definitely more difficult than going up! When we got to the bottom we saw a luminas, green, stick thin snake. With a silver tongue. It didn't like us. I tried to get close to it and it formed an arrow shap towards me. I've never ran so fast!
For the final part of the tour we went to Koh Ma, a beautiful beach resort just north of Haad Hinkong to do some snorkeling. We all (about 20 of us) got in the little wooden boat and went out to some clear water.
Everyone jumped in and within about 30 seconds started shouting that they were being stung. I thought they were just being wimps so jumped in with my snorkel. I saw a school of pretty blue and white fish...it was pretty awesome. Then I got stung on my leg by a crackle. I don't know what they are really called but they could sting....and they crackled!!! It was alright when there was just one of them but when there was a group....they were little b*****s!! So, the snorkel trip was very short....and painfull. I did see some pretty fish though :)
This was an awesome trip and we met some cool people. Very good value for money. The only down side I can think of is that it was all slightly rushed....other than that I would recommend it. Just holding the baby monkey was enough for me!!
It's our last full day in Koh Phangan tomorrow before we go to the Island of Koh Tao to do an open water diving course. I can't wait.
Peace out
